No one has started the new season better than Dan Skelton and his Blairs Cove warrants plenty of respect after winning a decent Warwick contest (second and third have since franked the form), while Its All Guesswork wasn't disgraced behind a subsequent Listed winner in Robin Des Foret at Killarney and he must enter calculations. Easy Worcester scorer Treackle Tart also merits consideration but BRILLARE MOMENTO edges the vote. Local handler Martin Keighley is sure to have the six-year-old fairly wound up for her return from a 170-day break and her game Listed win over Dusky Legend and Verdana Blue here in April represents the best form on offer.

Sceau Royal ticks plenty of boxes in that he was the best of these over hurdles, is a dual course winner and jumped brilliantly when scoring on his chase debut at Warwick (Ballyhill second) earlier in the month. He very much sets the standard but MOVEWITHTHETIMES is open to a lot more improvement with only five career starts under his belt, he was only narrowly beaten in last season's Betfair Hurdle and has always left the impression that he would excel when faced with a fence. North Hill Harvey and Mick Thonic add further spice to what is a cracking event.

Another competitive novice chase on the card where any of the five in the field have claims for victory. Black Corton has done nothing but improve throughout the summer months and arrives off what was arguably a career best over fences when winning at Newton Abbot a fortnight ago beating Sizing Tennessee, who reopposes here. FAGAN and Beat That both met at Perth in July when the former came out on top and the same looks likely here. Gordon Elliott's grey will benefit more from the stamina test on offer here than when encountering Ballyandy over an inadequate trip at Perth latest. The latter does warrant respect but will need to prove himself on the undulations of the track, while Ballymalin did little wrong on his chase debut at Worcester and possesses some very solid hurdle form to suggest he could improve as a chaser.
