Since making the transition from the jumping game, Golan Guy has struggled to find his feet on the Flat and remains a maiden after four attempts but this handicap contest marks a slight drop in class and with stamina being his forte, he shouldn't be overlooked on ground that suits. KHAYAR gets the nod as he won a 2m maiden hurdle here last month before a reasonable effort at Galway. He is rated 4lb lower than for his sole Flat success in October 2009 and can strike. Keep an eye on Stigh Collain, who can also get competitive.
The step up to this trip could be the catalyst to an improved display from Stigh Collain, who may well be up to winning a handicap of this nature off her present mark. Khayar rates a live danger judged on recent hurdling exploits, while Denis of Kerry is also in with a shout.

A positive market move for either of the newcomers will be worth taking note of but preference is for HISAABAAT. The son of Dubawi represents the red-hot Dermot Weld and a pleasing effort when last sighted over C&D left the impression he was on the verge of a first success. Both Jouster and Extra Steps are most experienced of these but are starting to look rather exposed and while the filly Red Allie may need this on her seasonal bow, Luggers Hall is the main threat to the selection having contested some relatively hot maidens.
Jouster has solid claims but, like Extra Steps, he has had plenty of chances. Conversely, Hisasbaat appears to be improving with experience and, in the hope that first-time blinkers sharpen him up, he earns the vote. Luggers Hall could be the one for the forecast.

An Aidan O'Brien representative in the handicap sphere must always be respected and the filly Fairylike certainly shouldn't be overlooked, despite a lacklustre effort when finishing down the field at the Galway Festival. However, a chance is taken on GRAINNE WHALE, who looks well treated off just a 1lb higher than when a respectable second at Wexford last month. The daughter of Elusive City appeared to appreciate the step up to 1m that day, shaping as though her maiden tag could soon be a thing of the past. Ajjaal finished only a place behind the selection at Wexford and also makes plenty of appeal.
A case of more quantity than quality on show in this handicap. Both El Toreros and, to a greater extent, Fairylike will be major players if bouncing back from below-par efforts last time. However, a chance is taken on Sharnova, who is certainly going in the right direction and, if settling better than at Down Royal last time, she can come out on top.

The first of four jump races on this mixed card can go the way of FANTASTIC BOB following a gutsy effort when runner-up on just his second start at Limerick. The step down to 2m is likely to suit this strong travelling four-year-old as the 2m4f last month appeared to find him out when pushed for an effort. Peaks Of Fire will attract obvious support returning to the jumps scene following his Flat win at Killarney, while Esporao continues to perform consistently for Gordon Elliot without managing to break through over the sticks. Silver Canyon makes most appeal of the others with winning distance form already in the book.
Esporao has strong claims, while Fantastic Bob is open to improvement, but the vote goes to Peaks of Fire, who is worth giving another chance to build on the considerable promise of his debut effort in this sphere, particularly given that his wellbeing is in no doubt following a victory on the Flat 25 days ago.

The feature race has attracted six and it would be dangerous to rule any one of them out in what looks an interesting contest. However, it is hard to ignore former top-class hurdler MUIRHEAD, who showed he still retains plenty of ability with a staying-on third over 2m6f in a chase at Galway. He arguably should have won there and looks certain to appreciate the slight drop back in distance and return to timber. In Sicilian Secret and Loch Long, Noel Meade's charge faces two genuine challengers, both of which can boast C&D winning form. The former, who relished the step up to this trip here last month, is expected to put up most resistance. Psycho appeals most elsewhere, but he's never really been one to in which to place maximum faith.
Psycho and Muirhead are both capable of mixing it in more exalted company than this when on-song and the vote goes to the former, whose credentials look more solid. Magical Memoir can pick up minor place money.

The finale looks an ideal opportunity for ABARTA to finally break his maiden tag over hurdles following three creditable efforts in June and July. The five-year-old has useful experience in the bag and is likely to appreciate this step up to 2m4f. Like A Comet can be forgiven his seasonal reappearance effort and might be of particular interest to each-way punters, but Alhellal is the main threat to the selection despite having to give weight away to all. He won a bumper at Roscommon on his penultimate start and should know more following a satisfactory hurdling debut run at this track last month.
Abarta is the clear form pick here and can get off the mark, perhaps at the chief expense of Craigs Dream, with Alhellal likely to do best of the remainder if translating his useful bumper form to this sphere.
