Pauline Robson does well with her select string and Timmy Murphy has a good record when riding for the yard. He partnered the promising SHANEN to comfortable victories in bumper company at Perth and Sedgefield last spring and stable inmates rarely fail for lack of fitness when returning to action. Soft ground is ideal and he gets the vote over Ueueteotl who also displayed notable promise in bumper company last term. The Ewart operation has just started to crank into action although SACRE TOI has already posted a stable success when staying on strongly to land a Newcastle chase eight days ago. That represented a significant improvement on last season's chase form and the experienced six-year-old can supplement those gains despite a 10lb higher mark for a yard that does especially well with steeplechasers. Sammy Spiderman's liking for this track is there for all to see and another solid effort is anticipated from the Whillans charge whilst What A Dream has claims if ready to roll on his return to action.

It will be fascinating to see the market reaction to Daasij who returns to the track after an absence of well over 500 days. The well-bred gelding completed a hat-trick when last seen in the spring of 2011 and doesn't have many miles on the clock. However, SPRUZZO may just be a safer option with fitness assured. His attacking approach is sure to make this a searching test and his guaranteed stamina may prove the decisive factor. Shanroe Society, an interesting Irish raider, tries this trip for the first time under Rules and merits respect alongside Delightfully.

There is no doubting that The Hollinwell is good enough to land this contest if displaying his best but his form figures are becoming somewhat erratic and ET MAINTENANT is narrowly preferred on the back of a very pleasing effort last month when just losing out in a driving finish to The Magic Bishop at Carlisle. Trip and ground should suit the Lucinda Russell inmate, a mark of 110 is acceptable and the 7lb claim of the promising Grant Cockburn may prove the determining factor here. This is trappy as those with the highest level of form over fences have plenty of weight and return to action after considerable breaks. Realt Mor has always been considered a chaser of real promise by the Richards team but it's fair to say that the jury remains out after just the two chase runs to date. Charingworth and Saveiro are likely to need the run and KUDU COUNTRY is preferred in the belief that this speedy sort could have too much quality for his rivals over the minimum trip. With fitness assured, Prosecco and Bocciani enter the equation too.

Tap Night, a massive improver last term, ended the season when a highly respectable sixth in Grade 1 company at Aintree behind Lovcen. However, he concedes plenty of weight all round here and may find this trip rather sharp for his seasonal reappearance, although he's certainly one to follow throughout the season. UBALTIQUE makes appeal in receipt of a stone from the topweight as he was well supported when behind Hinterland at Chepstow last time but performed as if very much in need of the race. A better effort is expected now. The likeable Lady Bluesky is always useful shortlist material.

The market will obviously prove the prime indicator of expectations as a field of newcomers face the starter.
