Last year's winner Steps had Demora (fourth) and Online Alexander (sixth) in arrears when third behind subsequent Group 3 winner Mecca's Angel in the Listed Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster and he should give another good account, while Justice Day is closely matched with the top-weight on a line through Mecca's Angel and he demands respect. Ladies Are Forever also arrives with leading claims having bounced back to form over 6f on the Knavesmire latest, but it's difficult to look past MUTHMIR. William Haggas' charge impressively overcame a stumble at the start to land the Portland at Doncaster and the decision to swerve the Abbaye can pay dividends.

Watch out for: Steps (1)

Muthmir looked a top-class sprinter in the making when overcoming trouble to readily land the Portland at Doncaster last month, and he can take the step up to listed level in his stride. Last year's winner Steps, Demora, Online Alexander and Justice Day can battle it out for minor honours.

ENCKE has shown that he retains plenty of ability and he is likely to have too much for these rivals. This trip is as sharp as he'd want it but he isn't slow, has plenty of class and is weighted to reverse form with Pether's Moon from their clash at Glorious Goodwood. Pether's Moon won a valuable prize in Turkey last month but had a tough race in testing ground that day and the selection arrives here a much fresher horse. Parish Hall is a solid performer in this grade but is likely to be found wanting for stamina at the business end. Don't Stare improved out of all recognition at Doncaster but needs plenty more this time, while Energia Fribby displayed a gritty attitude on her UK debut and can't be discounted.

Watch out for: Pether's Moon (1)

2012 St Leger winner Encke has shown enough in a couple of comeback outings in recent months to suggest he retains his ability, and this looks a good opportunity for him in receipt of weight from both Pether's Moon and Irish raider Parish Hall.

A chance is taken on LUCKY KRISTALE, who finally returns to sprint trips having clearly not stayed a mile in the Guineas or the Coronation Stakes. She shaped much better than the bare result at Doncaster over 7f and a big run is expected back at her optimum distance, with a handy weight allowance and the services of Andrea Atzeni. Reckless Abandon has plenty of class and ran well over an inadequate 5f last time behind a highly promising rival. He wouldn't want the ground too firm and any rain would be a help. Tropics ran away with this Group 3 prize last year and has solid claims of a repeat if bouncing back from a below-par run in the Haydock Sprint Cup. Danzeno isn't straightforward and threw away a handicap at Doncaster at the St Leger meeting. This kind of test should suit and he can go well if charting a less erratic course.

A very competitive renewal of this Group 3. Last year's winner Tropics didn't do himself justice in the Sprint Cup, and should make a bold bid to defend his crown, but he meets a potentially top-notch sprinter in Danzeno, who improved again in defeat last time, and can make it 4 wins from just 7 career starts. Reckless Abandon, Louis The Pious and the exciting Lightning Moon should also go well.

Blaine (third) fared best of those who ran in the Ayr Gold Cup two weeks ago (Heaven's Guest fourth, Highland Acclaim ninth and Eastern Impact 27th) and warrants plenty of respect as he is due to go up 1lb in the near future, while Prince's Trust will be the choice of many having dotted up on his seasonal reappearance at Yarmouth, although a 12lb rise is steep. Chill The Kite, Morache Music and Sirius Prospect are others to throw into the mix, but ALMARGO shades the verdict. An impressive winner at Goodwood three starts ago, he then banished a lacklustre C&D performance to the memory when beaten half a length in a tough handicap at Leopardstown and providing he arrives with his 'A' game again, he should go very close.

Watch out for: Blaine (7)

American Hope has posted a couple of really good efforts in similar contests over 1m here this term, but the way he travels suggests this trip will suit even better and he can gain a deserved first success for this yard. Highland Acclaim ended up in a hopeless position in the Ayr Gold Cup and is worth another chance, while Blaine leaves the impression he'll be at least as effective back over 7f.

Now her sights have been lowered, a big run is forecast from Marco Botti's representative. The main danger may be Queen Catrine, who was second in the Sandringham and shouldn't have any problems handling this shorter trip, while Felwah has been highly progressive this term and makes most appeal of those stepping up from handicaps.
