KEYS TO ASTRO landed a C&D double in emphatic style earlier this month and a hat-trick could be on the cards. His trainer has a good record when stepping them up in class and the barn are firing on all cylinders at present. Stormy Seas is past his best but is still very much a threat at this level, while Precocious Builder landed a similar event last time out.
Casino Peach had 2 lengths on Irish Act when a well beaten second first time out, she should know more about it today but the one to beat appears to be THINKITOVER. She improved on her place-getting debut to go close over C&D latest and the improving filly represents a hot trainer/jockey combo.
Jennie R. has filled the runner-up berth on all of her last five starts since switching to turf; another bold bid looks highly likely but she may find one too good again. That one could be SALT SYN, who romped home on his turf debut over 5f here latest and the step up in trip is expected to suit. Miss Debbie M warrants plenty of respect after making the frame in a higher grade latest but she isn't one to rely on.
Steamboat Express did exactly what was expected of him when dropped in class last time out and scored with the minimum amount of fuss. He must be considered today but SETTLER makes the most appeal on his latest outing. Dale Bennet's charge bettered Pico D J Alex and Squall Line to go near over C&D, putting up the highest last speed-figure, and he gets the nod here for his in-form barn.
Dharma Girl just got the better of Rich City Girl to be placed second (Glitterbdancing 4th) in a tougher C&D event on her latest outing and they could be tough to separate today. It could be worth taking a chance on PRETTY JENNY, who is unbeaten in sprints and scooped a valuable 6f event on only her second outing. She has yet to race on turf but has shown enough to warrant support in this company.
SMOKED EM nearly made all in a tougher C&D event latest, with Keepitinthebag 4 lengths back in 6th, and a repeat performance may suffice today. Sr. Razem has been in good heart on turf, he has only scored on dirt and should ask the selection a few questions back on the main track. Elsewhere, Digimon has won 5 out of his last 6 races, the best coming over 1m here latest, and it's hard to see him being too far away.
With plenty of newcomers and those who have seen the racecourse before hardly pulling up any trees, the one to follow appears to be IT'S HANDSOME I AM. He impressed on his debut when going close over 6f here, the stable are in-form and he may improve as he takes to turf. Of the debutants, Yes I'm Salty and More Then Regal looks the most interesting.
Desperado Kid only raced twice last year but scored over this trip on his debut and looked to have a bright future. He is more than capable at this level but may just need the run after well over a year off and the preference is for ROYAL MASTER. Kerry Zavash's charge has been in good heart recently. He was doing all his best work at the finish when second over 6f here latest and the step back up in trip should be in his favour.
One Other Than just got up to win over C&D last time and he looks a leading player for his in-form barn. MISS SWEET TIME was two lengths behind her that day but stumbled at the start and lost vital ground; she has worked well since and could reverse the form. Echo Spring also ran well in that race but she has been done no favours by the draw today.
