MARINA MARKET lost little in defeat when runner-up in a slightly better race over 1m here last time and he gets the confident nod to go one better tonight. Banking Holiday is another who arrives on the back of a narrow course defeat and rates a big danger, along with Michael Ferraro's gelding, Bedrock Blues.
VIOLA made a pleasing start to her racing career when runner-up over track and trip in December and, with improvement expected, she looks sure to take all the beating tonight. Deflate The Bubble has shown enough in previous starts to suggest that she can go close, while Pleasant Pacific makes most appeal of the newcomers.
BUSTER'S READY barely had to break into a sweat to score over 1m here last time and, with this extra yardage not a concern, she will be well fancied follow up. R Holiday Mood is very much heading in the right direction and commands respect, while Portside is certainly no forlorn hope.
Saratoga Tiger just missed out in this grade last time but is not the most reliable. Karakorum Jete certainly is after three third places over C&D in similar contests but the pair both finished behind NO GOAL in this grade over C&D two starts ago. He failed to see out a route trip next time but should prove too good back over this distance.
Look no further than SHERAGUSKA for the answer to this. Winner of a $10k claimer over a route trip at Finger Lakes four starts ago, he subsequently run well in even better contests and should prove far too good for these rivals. Dantastic has been struggling in better contests recently but won in this grade at the end of last year and looks the one for the forecast while the Randi Persaud pair, The Roundhouse and Next Day, could fight out the minor honours.
Western Thriller looks a progressive sort but needs to raise her game to score here. Red To Positive has just missed out twice in similar contests here and should be winning soon but might find one too good tonight in the shape of SUAVE ENDING. She was also a close second in a similar contest over a route here but that was only her second run and, with further improvement likely, gets the vote.
GAMBLING GERALDINE was off the mark at the first time of asking at Belmont and if fully tuned up on her first start since July, would take all the beating. Funky Munky Mama was denied by a neck in a valuable stakes contest at Delaware last time and should give the selection most to think about. Last time out scorer Queen Of The Lake completes the shortlist.
EMINENT TALE has taken a step-up in trip in his stride, scored over C&D last time and a reproduction of that effort would probably suffice here. Tap Attack had Living Right behind over the track and trip last time and looks the one for the forecast. Surfactant broke his maiden here last month and is also considered.
LADY ALMA rattled the crossbar over C&D last time when defeated by a nose but compensation may await here in a weaker-looking race. Playgirls Rhapsody looks to have her work cut out now raised in grade and newcomer Olympic Touch is entitled to benefit from the run. The biggest threat to the selection appears to come from Marie's Babe, third behind the selection last time out.
