COPPER BEACH found the step up in trip to 2m4f to his liking when romping home by 13 lengths at Uttoxeter last Thursday, and a 7lb penalty may not be enough to prevent him from completing a double. Charlie My Boy also gained a breakthrough success last time at Newton Abbot and the gelding is dangerous to discount off only 4lb higher. Clapton Hill offered something to work with after finishing fourth at Ffos Las and is another to bear in mind.

A fair amount of guesswork is required with these hurdling debutants, with a tentative vote going to TWO PAST EIGHT. The Alan King-trained charge showed a bit more fight on the Flat earlier in the month and may enjoy this change of discipline. Strike Alliance represents last year's winning trainer and is another to note if resuming in the same heart that saw him winning on the all-weather in March, while Lord Sam's Castle also enters calculations.

Watch out for: Strike Alliance (6)

An early-season juvenile with stamina probably not at a premium, so it may pay to side with LORD SAM'S CASTLE, who was the pick of these on the level. Alan King has very few peers in these races so Two Past Eight demands respect, along with Strike Alliance.

Fellow last-time-out winner Shearer made all at Ludlow and likely has more to offer in this sphere too. FATHER OF JAZZ kept on well to win under a penalty over C&D last month and James Owen's inmate left the impression that there would be more to come. He saw off subsequent winner State Of Bliss into third when scoring on his penultimate start and can add to his winning tally here. El Borracho finished a decent second over a similar trip at Bangor last month and is feared most, while Hurricane Ali completes the shortlist.

A winner on two of his previous three starts, BLUEBERRY WINE might still have more to offer and he is taken to defy a subsequent 5lb rise for last month's Huntingdon success. Lermoos Legend almost capitalised on a sliding handicap mark when finishing a good second at Cartmel 18 days ago and he merits respect once more, while Magistrato appeals most of the remainder.
