SILVER POINT looked all over a winner at Newton Abbot before being nabbed on the run-in by Another Bottle. Although the winner has been generally disappointing, he was useful at best and the form may be better than at first glance. The selection, a French Flat import, has a high cruising speed and is preferred to Shiwawa. The latter was a high-class bumper performer before losing her form quite dramatically but her recent third here to Thumbs Up was much more like it and she's a live danger on that evidence. Overtly Blue should enjoy this trip and enters calculations.

No Complaint and Nelson's Spice are best watched returning from absences and it may be worth chancing the much-improved WOODY VALENTINE. The 8-y-o has rediscovered his form with a vengeance over both hurdles and fences, latterly finishing an excellent second in a competitive novice chase at Sedgefield when conceding weight all round. He has been inevitably punished by the handicapper but remains fairly treated. Harry Flashman was an unfortunate faller at Hexham but his previous success at the same track and general consistency afford him strong claims today, while Perth scorer, Major Miller and It's Bertie are far from discounted.

LAST FLIGHT has returned from a lay-off in excellent heart, supplementing a victory here with a battling success at Fontwell. The mare is 16lb higher for those successes but it's likely that she will be suited by a return to this track, while also remaining open to further improvement. Fortunate Dave provided connections with a winner from their first runner when scoring comfortably enough at Market Rasen and should go well again despite being hiked 5lb for that success. Billie Magern is very interesting over this trip for the first time, with Share Option and Simple Glory also worth noting.

MASTER NIMBUS has performed creditably after an absence in 1m6f Flat handicaps and should be spot-on for this return to steeplechasing. He already has some useful form in the book over the larger obstacles and looks nicely treated on this first handicap venture over fences in what looks a wide-open contest. Tom's Toybox has a C&D success to his name but shoulders plenty of weight and Soubriquet should find this easier than last time. However, bigger dangers may lurk at the foot of the weights in the shape of recent scorer, Best Of The Lot, and the improving Norborne Bandit.

QUELL THE STORM made a successful hurdling debut when pushed out to score at Newton Abbot and the 3lb claim of his pilot could prove decisive against the other winner in the line-up, Night Orbit. Paul Nicholls' charge did the job comfortably, impressing as the sort who remains open to significant improvement. The French-bred handles quick conditions and can outpoint the Fielden charge who gained a deserved success at Market Rasen. However, his overall form profile is not quite as strong as that of the selection. Gonebeyondrecall is an interesting Irish raider in receipt of weight from the top two.

PURE GENIUS sets the standard after a series of solid handicap performances, culminating in a good third in a competitive contest at Ayr in mid-April. She is down considerably in trip here and her forcing tactics are taken to succeed on a track that should suit. It was over a similar trip that she scored convincingly at Warwick in early spring. Just Beware looks a threat as she is tough and reliable and trip and ground are ideal. Others to consider are Golden Run and Lake Wakatipu, although the latter would appreciate some rain. Maisy Daisy is a possible improver.
