A select but competitive renewal in which last season's International Hurdle first and third, Call Me Lord and Ch'tibello, make their seasonal bows. Both have to be respected, likewise the unexposed Navajo Pass and Stayers' Hurdle fifth Summerville Boy, but THOMAS DARBY gets the nod. Any horse can be forgiven a lacklustre effort at Fontwell, and before that he won a Grade 3 handicap off 151 on deep Ascot ground. We might not have seen the best of Olly Murphy's charge yet and his second in the 2019 Supreme Novices' Hurdle is good form in the context of a race like this.

DEFI SACRE was in top form last season, notching up a hat-trick with a win at Newbury in the depths of winter.
