Expert Analysis
Just about an up-to-scratch renewal of this G2, the first 2 showing smart form, and it was quite well-run also courtesy of the freewheeling Alcantor. There were no major hard-luck stories and the winner’s final 400m of 23.63s on ground that was on the soft side of “good to soft” prompts a close-to-par finishing speed of 106.3%.
RIDARI(115 here, 110 previously) seemed suited by how things unfolded in coming from some way back, initially a bit free in rear (had gone left at the start and hampered Dreamliner), and certainly ran his best race to date. He still had only one behind him with 600m to go but made relentless progress thereafter, switched inside 300m out, and got up almost on the line.
QUDDWAH (114 here and previously) ran his race and is clearly smart on his day, mid-field and taking a while to get in a challenge, leading from 250m out until near the line. He has not got a lot of kilometres on the clock for one of his age.
SKUKUZA (109 here, 110 previously) ran well again, possibly deserving a little extra credit in racing closer to the pace than the 2 who beat him, every chance until one paced late on.
PRINCESS CHILD (105 here and previously) has never been better, following her Tipperary G3 win with a meritorious 4th here, travelling comfortably near the head of the main group until one paced late on.
ZABIARI (107 here, 109 previously) ran creditably in first-time cheekpieces, towards the rear and unable to close as well as others until 2nd-fastest and gaining a couple of places in the final section.
ALCANTOR (106 here, 116 previously) went too freely in front, a good few lengths clear turning in and briefly looking hard to catch, but caving in and headed with 250m to go.
QIRAT (110 here, 114 previously) was not discredited under a penalty though always around the same place, this seeming to confirm that his Sussex win flattered him to a significant degree.
DREAMLINER (103 here, 109 previously)
DARIUS CEN (102 here and previously)
MARHABA YA SANAFI (100 here, 108 previously)
