Mac's Max filled the runner-up spot on his racecourse bow at Newcastle where Striking Midnight finished one place behind and the pair are expected to be in the mix once again. It wouldn't be a surprise if softer conditions saw the latter reverse the form, but COTTON SOCKS is preferred. He raced keenly on debut when second at Huntingdon and the application of a hood might help to make the difference.
