A half-brother to the high-class pair of Jonbon and Douvan, WILSTAR will likely prove a smart recruit to the hurdling ranks. He easily won a bumper at Perth in April and Olly Murphy's yard remains in fine form. Kadastral is another to note hurdling for the first time having won a valuable bumper at Newbury, while Cave Bridge has the more recent form arriving on the back of last month's hurdling debut success at Carlisle and he could feature.
The Skeltons have a strong record in this race and KADASTRAL looked a smart prospect when quickening clear to win a Newbury bumper by over three lengths at Newbury when last seen in March, improving nicely from debut, so he sets the standard. Wilstar also took a step forward from his first start when landing a Perth bumper by three lengths, and with the Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen also in good form, looks the chief threat. Breizh River failed to stay 2m5f when third in a Sedgefield handicap chase last time, but the return to 2m over the smaller obstacles should help and he remains capable of better, so is one who could place at a big price.

Winter Fog posted a personal best with a surprise third in last year's Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Go Dante ended his last campaign with a win in the Imperial Cup at Sandown and the nine-year-old has to be respected on his return. That said, preference is for DON'T MIND IF I DO, who makes his handicap debut after three promising starts in maiden/novice hurdles last season and a mark of 120 should be workable for Alan King's gelding. Others to note in a competitive event are Pure Gold, Half A Chance and Max Of Stars.
MAX OF STARS made all to good effect here last time and remains dangerous if getting her own way in front. She's thriving this summer and effective under these conditions. Saligo Bay continues in fine heart, unlucky not to finish closer at Market Rasen last time when the race wasn’t run to suit. He's a reliable gelding and still fairly treated. Go Dante brings strong handicap form to the table after his Imperial Cup success at Sandown and looks the class act if fully wound up for his return.

Plenty with chances, but none more so than RIBEYE after his success over 3m at Hexham last month. The veteran had plenty in hand that day and can defy a 5lb rise to add another victory to his record. Red Delta has also won impressively in recent weeks and remains open to improvement, while Wa Wa edges out Halpha Soleil and Yes Day to be pick of the remainder.
RED DELTA impressed when scoring decisively at Sedgefield last time and, with conditions again in his favour, looks well placed to follow up off what still appears a fair mark. Yes Day was running a big race when falling at Ludlow and, with the O'Neill's solid record in this contest, could go well at a price if jumping holds up. East Street found things tougher in stronger company at Carlisle but rates a value outsider back in calmer waters on the pick of his form.
