TOPOFTHECOTSWOLDS has shown some useful form in bumpers without getting his head in front, but this looks an ideal place to kick off his hurdling career in a more than winnable contest on paper. Lissycasey has performed well on his last couple of starts over further so could make this a stamina test from the front, while a first-time tongue tie can yield improvement from General Custard, who has had wind surgery.
TOPOFTHECOTSWOLDS was slammed by Tuesday's Southwell scorer Itchy Feet in a Stratford bumper last month, but that was still a promising effort, and given he's bred to do better over obstacles, he could be the way to go. Lissycasey is the obvious danger if repeating the level he achieved when second in a course handicap back in April.

TRIXSTER was fancied to run well on his handicap debut at Newcastle in April having shown promise in novice hurdles in the early part of the season, but was disappointing. He looked like winning the time before in a maiden contest at Chepstow, only to fall at the last, and the assistance of Richard Johnson can see him gain his first success. General Allenby has shown some useful form over timber so far and is respected, while Pontresina has kept on improving with each start and likely has more to offer.
TRIXSTER disappointed on his handicap debut in April, but he’d been shaping up well prior to that so is worth a chance to get back on track after a break. Pontresina has shown a fair level already and shouldn’t be far away. Point-winner Little Miss Darsi is also worth a peek at in the betting on her hurdling debut with James Bowen booked to ride.

THOMAS CRAPPER may be entering the latter stages of his career, but it is interesting that he is 7lb lower than when running away with a Newbury Grade 3 in 2017. He may have been held when last seen, but this is still just his second run since wind surgery and the full benefit of that procedure may be seen now. Chirico Vallis' campaign was dotted with suspect jumping last term, and some impressive victories were sandwiched by crushing tumbles. He is considered here but comes with a certain amount of risk, with a more resolute option being C&D winner Templehills, who could get involved despite the burden of top weight.
TEMPLEHILLS isn't the most fluent of jumpers but he's perhaps the most solid option here with all his rivals having something to prove for one reason or another. Dandridge and Thomas Crapper are both on lenient marks if bouncing back.

Milan Of Crystal took this last year but is now 12lb higher and may struggle to repeat the feat. It could be worth siding with SOIESAUVAGE, who is 8lb well-in for this under a 7lb penalty having won with a bit in hand from out of the handicap at Uttoxeter recently. Solstalla was four lengths adrift that day and is respected, while Newton Abbot winner Hoponandsee narrowly failed in her Stratford follow-up bid and is another worthy of consideration.
SOIESAUVAGE landed a bit of a touch from 10 lb out of the weights at Uttoxeter recently, and though she isn't an easy ride, the follow up is surely a distinct possibility given she competes from effectively 3 lb lower. Hoponandsee likely has more to offer for Nigel Twiston-Davies and can give the selection most to think about.
