A tricky race to open the card but the marginal preference is for HARTSIDE, who won at Doncaster back in February and he ran well to finish third off this mark at Carlisle a couple of weeks ago. Flanagans Field may not have won in over a year now but he has made the frame on multiple occasions since then and he cannot be discounted. Others to note are Jaunty Thor and Whispering Harry.
WHISPERING HARRY could be the one to be with, and the good form of the Henry Oliver string may be enough to swing things in his favour. Flanagans Field looks a very serious danger and can get involved in the finish, leaving Jaunty Thor as the one for third.

I'M ALWAYS TRYING makes his handicap debut off a fair opening mark of 109 and could make it two wins in three years in this race for the David Pipe team. First-time cheekpieces and a step up in trip could prove key to the five-year-old, who is fancied to account for recent Fontwell scorer Fizzlestix. Fille Des Champs and Arden Denis both ran respectably last time, with the latter of particular interest being a former course winner and having Noel Fehily back on board.

Big Meadow seldom runs a bad race here but is 6lb above his last winning mark and could find that hard to combat, despite Harry Teal's 7lb claim, while Lunar Flow is another C&D winner who looks likely to be ridden positively after struggling under a conservative ride at Wetherby recently. Preference is for the consistent NEWBERRY NEW, who was far from disgraced when second to a well-treated type last time and has plenty of scope for improvement now upped in distance.
CLONDAW RIGGER was headed only in the final 100 yds by a subsequent winner at Wincanton last month and probably still has more to offer. Lunar Flow is potentially on a good mark while Big Meadow is back down in class.

Rosy World has gone well in two starts for Suzy Smith but is already shaping as though she will need much further than this to be seen to best effect, while Dunstall Dolly and Orchard Moon both merit respect representing their leading Gloucestershire-based handlers. However, this can go the way of EASTER GOLD, who cost 24,000 pounds last year and whose dam was second in a bumper. Her yard has been in fine form of late and any market support would be worth noting.
This is likely to go to one of the newcomers, with ORCHARD MOON and Dunstall Dolly making the most appeal on paper. Nigel Twiston-Davies has had another fine season with his bumper runners so his mare gets the vote.
