Henllan Harri caused a big surprise when given free rein to make every yard of the running in the bet365 Gold Cup at the end of last season at Sandown when seeing off Vyta Du Roc in gutsy fashion. However, he is unlikely to have things his own way here with the likes of Silver Man, Vintage Vinnie, and Fact Of The Matter just a few who will ensure a strong pace up front. Tempestatefloresco has been in excellent form throughout the summer months and warmed up for this with an easy success in a novice hurdle at Fontwell, but preference goes to the four-time seeking OPTIMISTIC BIAS. James Evans has brought about plenty of improvement from the gelding since he switched stables earlier this year and the manner in which he wins enables the handicapper to struggle properly to get a grip on him. The stronger pace over a shorter trip should pose no issue. Ozzy Thomas is respected with Richard Johnson back in the saddle having relished the step up in trip last time at Ludlow.

HAMMERSLY LAKE had been in excellent form for the Nicky Henderson stable and posted a career best over fences when winning in comprehensive fashion at Haydock from former stable companion Kilcrea Vale. The son of Kapgarde has since been sold for 30,000 pounds to Charlie Longsdon and he looks to have a similar profile to last year's winner Sharp Rise, who ended up running in the American Grand National. PONGO TWISTLETON appeared to be losing the battle when falling at the last at Ffos Las over 2m6f at the beginning of June. The son of Champs Elysees is likely to benefit from the drop in trip, and for the addition of first-time blinkers, which should help him concentrate throughout the contest. Theo looks a very solid threat having won on Wednesday but is effectively 8lb worse off without Charlie Hammond claiming the 8lb again, while While You Wait got off the mark at Towcester in May and is respected off 6lb higher.
