TRICKY TRUCE has his first start for Kent Jensen, a trainer with an almost unbelievable strike-rate, and he can get back to winning ways back on dirt after several failed attempts on the artificial track at Hollywood. Snowbound In Rio and recent winner Windy Cash could prove best of the remainder.
Flirty Girl finally got off the mark on her fifteenth start and can be taken on in this better company. SACHARA looked more at home when runner-up in similar company last time after a couple of failed attempts in a better grade and gets the nod ahead of Hunch No Trump and Noble Spires.
For All The Girls, Sunshine Shelli and Citypro have hardly set the world alight and the newcomer SAFE ANGEL could prove a better bet. She makes her debut for an in-form barn with a good strike-rate in these types of races and will not have to be anything special to take this.
This would appear to rest between Halltheway, who is dropping in class, and NOTATE who recently finished second in a similar C&D event despite being forced wide on the bend. Preference for the latter is far from being clear-cut, however, as the former is better than his latest effort would suggest. Tiryns might be best of the rest.
Sin City Slew and Fergie's Fantasy enter the reckoning, but it might pay to rely on HAKA GIRL being fit enough after a two-month break. Her recent switch to a high-percentage trainer allays fears on that score, however.
Despite breaking slowly, SUMMER SENSATION, never looked in danger on his debut over five and a half furlongs here this month, going on to score by more than 5l. More is asked of him here but, with the normal amount of improvement for a first run, he should come on enough to take this. Awesome Pirate knows where the winner's enclosure is but most of his best form is in lesser company and the speedy Alpine Sport, who drops in class, looks a bigger danger.
One Step Beyond hails from the high-scoring Eric Kruljac barn while Wicked Snowman has been noted working well at home. They look the pick of the newcomers but the experience of RANGER JOE can prove decisive here. He ran well for a long way on his debut in this grade over 6f here before tiring late. Dropped in trip now and likely to have come on for the run, he gets the vote.
Sandyneck is the fastest over this trip and has won four times this year but in lower grades. Il Meglio scored over C&D last time out but is up in class now and preference is for SNOWY RIVER MAN, who won in this grade over seven and a half furlongs four starts ago and was a close third in a tougher contest over six and a half furlongs last time. This step up to a route should enable him to return to winning ways.
Soakin It Up's dam has eight winners from eight starts and Justin Evans' filly looks the pick of the newcomers. Superconductor is the fastest of these and was third in a similar contest last time but might have to play second fiddle tonight to OUR LAST AT BAT, who was third in a much tougher contest last time. She hasn't raced for four months but if anywhere near fully fit, should prove too good.
