MONITION was disappointing when last seen in a bumper at Navan at the end of March, but the full-brother to Champagne Fever is better judged on his second outing over hurdles at Punchestown at the end of January when finishing third to Eagle Lion. Shanakey's debut for Willie Mullins was too bad to be true, when well beaten and returning to the unsaddling enclosure blowing hard, and it would be no surprise to see an improved showing here. However, preference is for Gordon Elliott's ASK NEILUS, who gained some useful experience last month and had excuses on quick ground on her most recent outing, with an encouraging fourth-placed run at Listowel before that. The best of Owenacurra Lass' form entitles her to respect here, including when just three and a half lengths adrift of Colreevy at Fairyhouse, but her efforts away from really deep ground temper enthusiasm.
