Mainly a sprint juvenile back in 2018 Mr Coldstone begins for Willie Mullins off an 891 day break. The son of Tamayuz didn't show much in three outings for Johnny Murtagh, and his owner/breeder David Bobbett tries something very different now. Perhaps his patience will be rewarded and encouragingly Mr Coldstone's Nathaniel half-sisters, Lightening Dance and Karanelle have won over flights. The likes of Mr Adjudicator did Bobbett/Mullins and Townend proud in the past, including at Grade One level. Mick Winters and Eoin Griffin are both two-handed, but the safest course of action may well be to row in behind NOT AVAILABLE. A half-brother to a dual Grade One winner in Identity Thief, this 135,000 Euro three-year-old made a satisfactory enough start to his career when third at Navan. With a little progression the five-year-old could take a bit of beating.

At this meeting in 2015 Tyrone House justified the long journey down from County Armagh for the Keith Watson team, winning the finale on the programme at 20/1 under the handler's son Marshall. They travel with one runner on this occasion and in-form Jody McGarvey has been booked for the spin on CASTLEHUME GOLD. Connections got a 'bounce' from the Gold Well gelding when he finished second in a first time visor at Punchestown in November. The eight-year-old failed to back that up last time out and the blinkers are now reached for. A change of head-gear and the presence of McGarvey up top for the first-time may do the trick. Many others appear capable of making an impression and the handicap first-timers in particular need to be monitored in the market. Glorious Singer lacks experience but has definite scope for progression.

Willie Mullins dominated the Leopardstown Christmas meeting winning 13 of the 28 races including five of the seven Grade Ones. It was always the plan, though, that AL BOUM PHOTO would come here as he has done in the past two seasons, taking this prize before going on to land back-to-back Gold Cups at Cheltenham. He comfortably beat Acapella Bourgeois last year and is unopposable as he actually meets that rival on 7lbs better terms this time around. The latter has been absent since winning a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse in February but is still the most likely candidate to chase home the selection, although Brahma Bull, a Grade 3 winner as a novice last term, can also contend for second having run a respectable race behind Minella Indo on his reappearance in November.

WILD DESIRE managed to win a couple of handicap hurdles off modest marks and showed enough on her third start over fences at Clonmel to make her of interest here. Settled well off the pace, she jumped reasonably well and crept into the race on the run to two out before keeping on at one pace behind easy winner Epson Du Houx. The Beneficial mare is a hopeful choice to provide her young rider with a breakthrough winner. Brex Drago, only beaten a dozen lengths in the 2019 County Hurdle, has been out of form over fences but, as a result, his mark has dropped enough to get him into this contest. He would definitely have the class to win it if showing a bit more here. Itsalonglongroad won on the Flat here in the summer before winning over fences at Downpatrick, but real winter ground is a concern for him. Miss Cedille had been in good form over hurdles before being well-beaten on chase debut at Down Royal, but the full-sister to former smart chaser Le Vent D'Antan might leave that behind while Favori Loqique ran quite well over fences here in October and is another to consider.

After a promising second on his handicap chase debut at Thurles, PRESENTING POINT was to the fore throughout when winning over course and distance on his next outing. He jumped soundly and can follow up off a 7lbs higher mark. It was good to see Francis Flood back amongst the winners at Leopardstown and It's Only A Number, third behind the selection last time, has strong claims on paper. Simon Torrens' claim means he's 12lb better off at the weights and if he can be a bit sharper with his jumping he'll have every chance, but the selection looked better in that department when they last clashed. Highest Benefit won twice over course and distance, including this race, last season and has been runner-up in two of his last four starts so is worthy of respect, while Sean Flanagan is an interesting booking for Cadawill who's another to have won around here before and ran a good race when third to subsequent dual winner Rock On Barney when last seen in October.
