However, with the benefit of a recent run to her name, preference is for BANTAM, who was held over the extended 2m2f at Newton Abbot last time but appears a likely improver now dropping back to 2m. Poetic Verse scored impressively at Market Rasen in August and also makes plenty of appeal.

CARRIGMORNA KING is unbeaten in two starts at Stratford and he arrives here just 1lb above his last winning mark, a success which came here back in May where he beat the useful Baby Mix. GREAT FIGHTER could hardly have been more impressive at Hexham last month, scampering clear for an eased-down 14-length success. He showed marked improvement in the jumping department, too, and he can double up on his handicap debut. Nesterenko shaped with plenty of promise on his return from a layoff when second at Worcester and he commands the utmost respect. Rock Of Leon and Angus Glens won't be far away, while Punchestown winner Kentucky Star is also worth a look on his first start for John Quinn.

A number of these look to have chances, but none appeal more than CRICKEL WOOD. He represents a Charlie Longsdon stable who can do no wrong at the moment and left his debut performance well behind when a solid third at Warwick, form which has been subsequently franked by the runner-up. Final Countdown placed in three of his four hurdle starts last year and warrants plenty of respect returning with cheekpieces equipped (worn for two Flat wins earlier this year), while War On The Rocks and Tobacco Road are just a couple more with claims.

Vexillum remains in decent form despite being a beaten favourite at Newton Abbot and he can show up well, while Jumeirah Liberty readily won a C&D selling handicap in March and has arguably the best lady rider around on his back. The Shropshire Lad, Drummond and Percys Choice also hold claims, but a chance is taken on Shark Hanlon's Irish raider HERE COMES MOLLY. She wasn't beaten all that far in a Listowel maiden last time and it's interesting that she ventures to England for her handicap debut.
