Experience of this surface can prove invaluable and LUCKY MELLOR has an excellent record on the fibresand with a success and two close seconds from three outings. He ran really well on Saturday when conceding over a stone to Point To Prove, going down by less than a length. Athwaab must be considered a potent threat, having stepped up significantly on three modest maiden efforts to score on his handicap bow at Kempton over a furlong further than today's trip. He looks the sort to improve again. The consistent Caramelita and the unexposed Orchid Wing are worth a second look.
Athwaab took a step forward when winning at Kempton and is fancied to follow up on her first start for Mick Quinlan. There could be more to come from Orchid Wing on his handicap debut, while the reliable Lucky Mellor seems sure to give his running again.

Follow The Dream was probably unlucky not to defeat BENTLEY BROOK last time at Wolverhampton and has every chance of reversing placings on the book. However, Karen George's charge has yet to experience fibresand whereas the top-weight has five successes to his name on this specialist surface and he is taken to complete the half dozen here. Another course specialist, Victory Quest, will probably need this so Leyte Gulf, currently enjoying a consistent run, is nominated as short-list material after two good efforts at Wolverhampton last month. This is certainly his optimum trip.
Marsam is likely to ensure a good gallop, in which case dropping to this trip shouldn't be a problem for Follow The Dream. She ought to reverse recent Wolverhampton placings with Bentley Brook, but the bang-in-form Leyte Gulf gets the vote over both of them.

BEL CANTOR gained his only success at the minimum trip at this venue and can repeat the trick today. He's in good form at present, has only been raised 1lb for a decent effort at Wolverhampton last time and gets on really well with Kelly Harrison. Lesley's Choice is an improving sprinter that appreciates this surface and should give a good showing on this hat-trick bid. Rebel Duke should be all the sharper for his latest run after a small break and market support for this course and distance winner would increase confidence. Canadian Danehill and Colorus are not discounted.
The pace is likely to be ferocious. Equuleus Pictor is unproven on the surface but this is less taxing than his most recent assignments on turf and he gets the nod ahead of Rebel Duke and Lesley's Choice.

SHADOWS LENGTHEN has been a revelation in recent weeks and completed his hat-trick in facile fashion here on Saturday. He is reunited with his young conditional pilot and can make it four on the bounce despite his obviously rapid rise up the weights and a 6lb penalty for that latest success. Venir Rouge has yet to oblige on any artificial surface but this is his first attempt on fibresand and he could go well if taking to conditions. In contrast, Boundless Prospect and General Tufto go well around here and cannot be ruled out.
Shadows Lengthen completed a hat-trick in spectacular style here on Saturday and is hard to oppose. There are good reasons to believe the main threat will emerge from course-specialist General Tufto, with Venir Rouge another to consider.

HIT THE SWITCH scored with plenty in hand here two outings ago and wasn't disgraced when fifth at Kempton next time. He'll appreciate the return to fibresand and can resume winning ways with the furlong drop in trip not expected to inconvenience. Ingleby Princess caused a shock here last month when landing a claimer and didn't do too badly on her follow-up attempt when a fair fourth to Swiss Art. This looks her ideal trip and she should go close. The City Kid ran well enough off a diminishing mark last time but stable form is an obvious concern.
David Barron is 5-17 with older horses at this venue and can enhance that record courtesy of Ingleby Princess, who is well up to winning a race of this nature off her present mark. The City Kid should be in the mix, while Plenilune is of interest down in trip.

FIRST SWALLOW won a competitive handicap here last time and can shake off what looks a reasonable 5lb rise for that success. He steps up to a sixth furlong now but has some perfectly decent form at that distance and it's good to see Phillip Makin on board once again. The handicapper continues to give Cool Sands a chance and all three of his November runs suggest he can play a prominent role. Tri Chara travels well on this surface and looks pretty well handicapped if the 7lb claim of his useful apprentice is taken into account.
First Swallow should make a bold bid to add to his victory here a fortnight ago, but Cool Sands has been shaping as though his turn is near of late and is preferred. Danum Dancer is dangerously well handicapped and rates a danger, too.

DIAMOND BLADE has taken time to find his form and the handicapper has not been overly harsh on the gelding, raising Tim Easterby's charge 3lb for last month's course win. Although not looking entirely straightforward, there may be more improvement to come and he is worth going along with once again in view of the assessor's relative leniency. Dickie Le Davoir is more than capable of taking a leading role if at his best and is worth keeping on the right side. Kinigi and Tag team also merit respect in an open race.
An exposed field with the exception of Diamond Blade, for whom a hat-trick is on the cards after wins at Redcar and this track last time. Hollow Jo and Kinigi are suggested as viable alternatives for each-way players.
