SCARPETA won a similar claimer in March and is capable at this level. Fourth in Cheltenham's 2018 Ballymore Novice Hurdle to Samcro, he bridged a three-year losing spell when winning at Clonmel in March and while beaten a long way in a recent chase, today's race is a lesser contest. Bal De Rio also won a similar claimer at Limerick in May, under a 7lb claimer, and while he ran well at Kilbeggan last month, gives the selection 16lb. Shes Some Doll was well held on a recent Tramore chase run but had been running well and is suited by this distance and seems ground-versatile. Sicario is exposed but is fit from the flat and was a Kilbeggan maiden hurdle winner last August. Breffni Brave has yet to show much worthwhile form.

SCARPETA was successful at Clonmel when last seen in this sphere and holds a clear edge on form here so is fancied to add to that success after a creditable third there over fences. Shes Some Doll is next on the list also back hurdling with Kilbeggan fourth Bal de Rio another who needs considering.

VINNIE IS BUSY has top weight but also carried plenty weight when a useful third at Limerick in May, with today's race looking less competitive. A debut bumper winner in 2020, he returned following a 706 days layoff in February and a reproduction of his Limerick run (the runner-up won next time) would give him every chance. Deja Rouge, a 130,000 euros three-year-old purchase, disappointed on his latest run in December but had run a promising race on debut. He is by the same sire as Allaho and could bounce back to form today. Dinero Falso and Ardera Ru are closely matched on a recent Wexford meeting and have place claims. Mister Beeton has shown form in seven bumpers but faces a tough enough task on jumps debut.

DESERT FRIEND won in the manner of a nice horse in June and should relish today's extra distance. A stayer on the flat in the UK, he was reported to be suffering from 'heat stress' at Sedgefield in December but returned to form winning easily at Listowel and is open to further progression at this distance. Salvador Ziggy won his Listowel bumper last September and scored on Punchestown reappearance. He is suited by conditions but gives 6lb to the selection. Rockanrye was an unlucky loser at Kilbeggan (blundering at the last) and while she has obvious claims, the dual point-to-point winner would ideally prefer a longer distance. Ballybaun Star was an ordinary flat handicapper who has improved over hurdles and won well at Ballinrobe, with the well beaten third-placed horse winning subsequently. Granny Lowrie steps up in grade from her Kilbeggan win while Dovlator, who shapes like a stayer, won at Down Royal when the leader blundered badly at the second-last, and might find a few too strong.

This looks a good opportunity for dual Flat winner HISNAMEIS MRDEVITT to strike over hurdles. He has a nice bit of experience in this sphere and, after being placed in a Ballinrobe maiden, ran two solid races in Punchestown handicaps in recent months. He has shown that he can run close to his rating and that might well be good enough to win here. Amir Kabir was a useful stayer on the level for Roger Charlton and won a charity race at the Punchestown festival. He'll be well schooled and is likely to go close in a race lacking depth. Freddie Robdal isn't too far behind the selection on ratings but has finished his races rather tamely in recent starts. A place may be the best he can hope for again.

UNANSWERED is on a roll and is hard to oppose. Tony Martin's charge followed up two wins on the Flat with an emphatic success over hurdles at Punchestown and can defy a 13lb hike. He needs plenty of pushing but finds plenty off the bridle and can take this en route to Galway later in the month. Colm Murphy had a nice winner at Bellewstown on Saturday and his Wexford runner-up Gondor may be next best. That was a good effort after eighteen months out of action and he's now fitted with a tongue-tie. Presenting Lad has a win and a second to his name at this venue and would have gone close in last year's renewal but for falling two out. Given his fine track record, he's likely to give a good account of himself again.

Watch out for: Gondor (8)

UNANSWERED transferred his recent improvement on the Flat back to this sphere when scoring in good style at Punchestown, and an 11 lb rise may not be enough to halt the winning run of this progressive 5-y-o. Gondor went close on his comeback run at Wexford and he will be a threat if able to at least match that form here, while Temptationinmilan and Vale of Glory are others to consider.

ALFIERI was a revelation over this trip at Tipperary on Thursday where he bolted up by 13 lengths under this rider. The ground was much softer than is likely to be the case here but he was second in a Kilbeggan maiden on good ground and is likely to prove hard to beat under his mandatory penalty. A Dublin Job was third to the selection at Tipperary and it's hard to see him turning around the form. Dalileo ran well when second over 2m6f at Limerick on his latest hurdles start and was a fair fourth over fences at Wexford. He likes good ground and should go well. Miss Us O was touched off at Kilbeggan in April before going one better at the same venue last time. She stays well and merits respect off a 6lb higher mark.

Watch out for: Dalileo (4)

ALFIERI could hardly have been more impressive when making his third start in handicaps a winning one over this sort of trip at Tipperary 4 days ago and, turned out under a penalty, he's fancied to follow up. That said, Miss Us O impressed when successful on her latest outing and is feared, along with Dalileo.
