Probably best to side with those with experience as this is a big ask for a newcomer although support for Zafar would be worth noting. An open contest as one would expect. TIGER CRY has had a quiet time of things since falling here last year but his latest run over hurdles bodes well for his chances and he arrives a fresh horse. Ursis could go well but In The High Grass and Dunguaire Lad make more appeal whilst the improving Royal County Star has to be feared given his shrewd connections. The 1-2 from the Festival Bumper at Cheltenham, Cork All Star and Sophocles, plus unlucky in-running fourth-placed Shirley Casper, look the ones to beat. Run at a ferocious pace, the Grade 1 event was well up to standard this year and the winner, who keeps on improving, will take all the beating again. The runner-up appeared to have every chance but Shirley Casper was twice impeded at crucial stages and should get closer. Tot O'Whisky disappointed and may not cope again, while Cooldine was found out by the company. Lucky Heroine is an improving mare who must be considered but a bigger threat to all could be the once-raced Caravino, a superbly-bred youngster who should have come on for his recent victory at Limerick.

Newmarket raider Be Fair arrives in good heart but faces some toughened performers at this level. Chief amongst them are Ned Kelly and Joe Blake with preference for the former. Edward O'Grady's veteran ran a fine race behind Drombeag at Cheltenham where the stiff 3m2f found him out and then fell at Aintree. He can gain compensation at the expense of Joe Blake, who should be straight enough following a recent run at Kelso. Ian Ferguson's 12-year-old was third in last year's Cheltenham Fox Hunters' and should get involved here. Oscar India, fourth behind Drombeag at Cheltenham, needs some give in the ground but First Down Jets, third in this a year ago, is capable of a big effort.
