FIGHTER PILOT displayed promise when finishing third on his debut at Newcastle last month and that form was boosted when the winner hit the crossbar in the Mill Reef on his next outing. The second has been successful subsequently and Kevin Ryan's colt has to be respected with that experience now under his belt. Trumble also put in an encouraging performance on his introduction and could go well, while Inver Park and Symbol of Hope merit consideration too.

Watch out for: Trumble (10)

FIGHTER PILOT failed to lay a glove on the first two on debut at Newcastle but there's plenty of substance to that form (the winner subsequently finished runner-up in a Group 2, and the second has won since) and he is open to plenty of improvement. Conditions shouldn't be an issue (his sire's progeny generally handle plenty of cut in the ground) and he gets the nod ahead of Trumble and Inver Park.

Those with previous race experience don't set too high a standard, with Wicklow the pick of them after filling fourth place on debut at Goodwood. THUNDER DRUM gets the nod because she is a full-sister to smart stayer Dubhe, while her dam won the Irish Oaks and is a full-sister to Nathaniel. Royal Touch also has to be noted given that he is a half-brother to Farhh, and Charlie Appleby's newcomers always merit consideration. Any market support for Eminent Hipster, Irish Legend or Moneykenny would have to be noted.

There won't be many 2-y-os with a better pedigree than ROYAL TOUCH and he is taken to make a winning debut. The son of Oasis Dream remains unexposed and a mark of 73 should be workable. Le Reveur was a bit disappointing at Haydock last time but he won twice prior to that and now debuts for a new stable. Others to note are Flying Dragon and Espresso Freddo.

Several to consider in this competitive handicap. Preference is for ESPRESSO FREDDO, who left his low-key reappearance well behind when runner-up at Hamilton recently and is very appealing off the same mark. Things didn't go to plan for PULL HARDER CON at Yarmouth when his three-race winning run came to an end, but Robyn Brisland's colt is worth another chance, with William Carson returning to the saddle. Red Bravo has made the podium off a 1lb lower mark the last twice and won't mind the forecast cut in the ground, while Independence Day went close off this rating at Chelmsford last week. Wolverhampton winner Elzaam's Dream is the pick of Ron Harris' pair, with Sovereign State and Twilighting others to take seriously.

The vote goes to SOVEREIGN STATE, who won off this mark on an easy surface at Chepstow last year and has acquitted himself well in a couple of minor events since returning in August. There's probably mileage in Twilighting's new mark and she'll be a threat if handling conditions. Elzaam's Dream and Red Bravo also merit respect but the ground is a worry where Pull Harder Con is concerned.

JANE MARPLE took a step forward when opening her account at the second attempt over 1m4f at Newmarket in June. The Nathaniel filly is a half-sister to Precious Ramotswe, a Group 3 winner at this distance, and the step up in trip is likely to suit as she joins the handicap ranks. Myseven made it back-to-back victories on her handicap bow at Kempton and is respected off a 6lb higher rating. Vindolanda has plenty of experience at this distance and won't mind the forecast cut in the ground, with James Fanshawe's Lingfield winner Viola another to note.

Providing she copes with the prevailing conditions, MYSEVEN will take plenty of stopping. She displayed a good attitude when making a winning handicap debut at Kempton and this step up in trip could help unlock further improvement. ACT OF WISDOM thrived when upped in trip and tried in a pair of first-time cheekpieces at Goodwood and the Godolphin youngster, who cost 1.1m guineas as a yearling, makes plenty of appeal now making his first appearance in a nursery off a mark of 82. Side Shot opened his account at Wolverhampton and there could be plenty more to come from the Frankel colt, who is a half-brother to his handler's Group 3 winner Shutter Speed. Newbury runner-up Parish Academy completes the shortlist.

CASTING VOTE was disappointing when attempting to score under a penalty at Kempton in August, but the drop back from 1m4f on his handicap debut can help the son of New Approach bounce back to form. Sandyman has been very consistent in three outings this season and the four-year-old is respected along with The Met, who placed at Goodwood on his latest start.

Watch out for: Sandyman (1)

Despite failing to vindicate punters' confidence at Windsor last month, CASA LOUPI is evidently thought capable of better and is well worth another chance given the promise of his Sandown reappearance. The Met is feared on the back of a creditable effort behind the in-form Snow Ocean at Goodwood, while Sandyman also has claims and it would be unwise to rule out Deinonychus, who is 4-10 here.
