Crezic has a definite chance representing the same trainer/owner combination that won this contest 12 months ago while Whisperinthebreeze can step forward from his hurdles deut at Navan, where he finished one place behind a subsequent easy winner in third. At Your Ease and Smoking Gun are others to keep an eye but slight preference is for I AM SAILING. Hardline appreciated the drop back in grade on his most recent start when winning comfortably at Punchestown on his latest start in a Listed contest and has to be respected once again. However, his trainer also has two other contenders of interest with Cartwright, a useful Flat horse who won well at Naas, and DEFI BLEU, an expensive store horse who won his bumper at Navan in December. Preference goes to the latter with this looking a very interesting place for him to make his debut over timber. Impact Factor has steadily improved over hurdles and should play a hand in proceedings along with Speak Easy, who disappointed in a Grade 1 at Naas behind Next Destination last month.

CAREFULLY SELECTED did it well at Leopardstown over Christmas in a strong bumper and the form of that victory was given a boost when The Big Dog (fourth) won at this venue four weeks ago. Some smart animals have landed this prize in recent years, including Outlander, Killultagh Vic and Monbeg Worldwide, and it would be no surprise if the selection, or main market rival Invincible Cave, joined that roll of honour. The latter did it well when winning at Navan back in November and merits close attention in the betting. Press Conference could prove best of the remainder.
