A disappointing turnout. BLACK JACK ROVER made most in determined fashion at Catterick last time out and he could well dominate in this small line-up. Forever Field was well beaten on his hurdling bow but will find this much more suitable than the Ascot race he contested last month. He is feared more than Peterpanopirateman, who came down when held at Doncaster - far from an ideal preparation for this.

Top Tip: Black Jack Rover (1)
Watch out for: Forever Field (2)

Tricky despite the small field, FOREVER FIELD getting a narrow vote having clearly not been 100% at Ascot last month. Black Jack Rover may well emerge as the chief threat, but Peterpanopirateman undoubtedly remains with a future in this sphere.

The Micky Hammond yard has been among the winners recently and he gets the vote ahead of Ivans Back, who ran encouragingly over course and distance last time. Ruaraidh Hugh enters calculations in the first-time blinkers, while Up Your Game is the pick of the remainder.

THE SOCIETY MAN's poor strike-rate is a slight concern, but his performances in defeat of late suggest he has a race in him off this sort of mark. Michael Chapman's charge is preferred to Mac Le Couteau, who appears to have been deliberately kept away from testing winter ground. Sir Lynx often runs his race and can play a part, and Leney Cottage is open to improvement on just his fifth start now upped in trip so he also enters the reckoning.

BE MY PRESENT was bitterly disappointing when turned over at skinny odds at Wetherby but she has been given a really good break since and it is worth remembering that she arrived at that contest chasing a hat-trick following a pair of wins at Hexham, the latter coming in most taking fashion. She remains one to keep on side, with recent C&D winner Grimley Girl making most obvious appeal of the remainder. The Henry Oliver-trained nine-year-old is on a stiff enough mark, however, and Knocklayde Express could push her close for the silver medal.

Individual Race Printouts

Towering has shaped with promise in two starts to date and can be expected to make his presence felt again, but SIMPLY ROUGE is the one who appears to hold all the aces. Peter Niven's charge was two places ahead of Towering when second at Huntingdon and is entitled to have learned plenty from that highly encouraging opening effort. Two Taffs and Same Ole Trix make most appeal of the newcomers.
