QUEEN POLINE will be strongly fancied to land the opener. She won readily in her first couple of 'bumpers' before running creditably in a Listed contest at Sandown and is sure to have been well schooled prior to her hurdling debut. Gentle Caribou effortlessly landed a NH flat race at Towcester on her latest outing in February and should mount a bold bid first time over timber, while Wild Rhubarb was a 1m6f winner on the level and warrants respect on her first starts under rules.
Much will depend on how the hurdling debutantes jump, but Megasue, Wild Rhubarb and Queen Poline all make appeal on what they've shown so far in bumpers/on the Flat, and they are selected in that order.

Stockton Flyer is entitled to strip fitter for his comeback run at Uttoxeter last month and should mount a bold bid, but they will all have to go some to beat ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES. He was unlucky to bump into a rejuvenated character when runner-up on his chasing debut at Wincanton last month and a repeat performance would be enough here. Rojabaa could prove next best off his low weight.
The handicapper has cut Brimham Boy some slack, and if new connections have him straight for his reappearance he could get the better of Rojabaa and Absolute Shambles, both of whom were placed on their first try over fences last time.

SONOWYOUNO stayed on in determined fashion to score on his hurdling debut over an extended 2m at Aintree last month and, with this step up in trip not a concern, he can make it two from two. Emperor Concerto won in comfortable fashion at Worcester last time and is unlikely to go down without fighting, while dual 'bumper' winner Divy is another worthy of consideration on his first run over hurdles.
Emperor Concerto and Sonowyouno should run well under their penalties, preference marginally for the latter given he has more scope to improve faced with a stiffer stamina test. Bumper winners Swansbrook and Divy also look capable of making an impact, now switched to hurdles for the first time.

Peter Toole got a fine tune out of Pipers Legend at Huntingdon recently and that pair should play a leading role again here, but COUNT THE COST gets the tentative vote. This Old Vic gelding showed a likeable attitude when landing the spoils over an extended 3m2f at Fontwell last time and is in theory 1lb lower today with Marc Goldstein's 5lb claim taken into consideration. Dasher Reilly fell early on at Southwell yesterday and could go close if taking his chance.

ZORRO DE LA VEGA appears to be going from strength to strength at present and is extremely hard to oppose in his bid to make it four wins in a row, despite 32lb higher than the first of his three victories at Worcester last month. Past C&D winner Green Gamble looks the most likely danger on the back of his gallant effort at Kempton, while Stumped has been fairly consistent in six starts over fences thus far and warrants respect.
Zorro de la Vega goes in search of a 4-timer and, granted he was so impressive at Ludlow last time, he can defy a 13 lb hike in the weights. Pilgrims Lane and Green Gamble appeal as his likely closest pursuers.

Stratford Stroller was progressing nicely before coming to grief two from home at Stratford last time and should go close here providing his confidence hasn't been shattered, but WAR FOOTING gets the nod. There was plenty to like about his second at Worcester just short of three weeks ago and that first run since December last year is sure to have blown any cobwebs away. Musashi is another to consider in the first time visor.
After 7 runs in fairly close succession, Stratford Stroller was due a short break after disappointing last time, and it'll be no surprise if he comes back all guns blazing. To continue the military theme, War Footing looks his biggest threat, with Lepido in with a fair shout for the minor honours.

CHILLI ROSE is likely to prove a cut above these rivals. She stepped up on a comfortable debut success to finish sixth in a Listed 'bumper' at Aintree in April (despite hanging badly right) and should make light work of landing this contest before switching to hurdles. Alwaysonthemove can put his experience to good use and collect second spot, while Cashpoint looks best of the remainder.
Chilli Rose sets a good standard on what she showed in the spring and is an obvious choice. Stay In Tune would make more appeal than Alwaysonthemove if attracting any market support.
