JOURNEY WITH ME has been impressive in a point-to-point and bumper and is held in very high regard. He missed an engagement before Christmas due to drying ground and now finds himself in a very hot contest but is selected to make a winning start over hurdles. Top-class bumper performer Kilcruit was turned over at long odds-on at Cork and the horse that beat him disappointed here earlier in the week. Nonetheless, he's likely to improve on that hurdling debut and is obviously a leading contender as he tries this longer trip. Chester Cup winner Falcon Eight is a fascinating hurdling debutant while Barbados is another classy Flat horse and he bumped into a talented novice when second on his hurdling bow at Punchestown.

Coral Cup winner HEAVEN HELP US finished behind several of these rivals on her seasonal reappearance at Punchestown but ran a better race on her return to Cheltenham earlier in the month. She finished fourth behind the geldings in a Grade 2 and, if jumping a bit more fluently, can regain the winning thread with the 2m4f trip likely to play to her strengths. Dysart Diamond just got the better of Royal Kahala in that aforementioned Punchestown contest and both have claims again while Cheltenham mares' novice hurdle winner Telmesomethinggirl was fifth on that occasion and is better off at the weights here. Willie Mullins runs four in all and it's interesting to see that Paul Townend sticks with the unbeaten Shewearsitwell despite her absence since winning a Grade 3 novice at Tipperary over a year ago.

RUN WILD FRED has loads of experience for a novice and also comes to the table with some compelling high-class form. The Shantou gelding filled the runner-up spot in two of the most competitive handicap chases last season, the Thyestes at Gowran Park and the Irish National at Fairyhouse, and gained a deserved big race success in some style last time when making all in the Troytown at Navan. A current rating of 159 sets the bar very high. Ontheropes has also won a valuable staying handicap this season landing the Munster National at Limerick but never got involved when plugging on into fourth last time in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury. Vanillier ultimately beat just one rival when taking a Grade 2 at Punchestown last month but the Albert Bartlett winner, like Fury Road, will appreciate this stamina test.

SHARJAH gets the vote to take this Grade 1 prize for a record fourth successive year. The Willie Mullins-trained gelding is well on his way to earning a million euro in prizemoney having won the Galway Hurdle, filled the runner-up spot in the last two renewals of the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle and recorded a fifth career Grade 1 win last time when readily beating Zanahiyr and Echoes In Rain, who spoiled her chance by failing to settle, in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown. Saint Roi won the 2020 County Hurdle in decisive fashion at Cheltenham and started last season as a leading Champion Hurdle candidate. However, he didn't quite live up to the billing and now reappears after a near 11-month break.

SHANTOU LUCKY added to a Down Royal win earlier this year when just getting the better of Paddy Wickla over 2m3f at Punchestown last time and the form of that race got a timely boost when the third, Rebel Ivy, recorded a decisive victory at Limerick on Sunday. Gavin Cromwell's charge won last time despite jumping far from fluently and, if brushing up that department, should again give a bold show. Influential Lady has progressed really well this season winning three of her latest four starts including last time over this trip at Gowran Park and is another light weight for the shortlist. Farawaybay also comes into the progressive bracket, while others to consider in a highly competitive heat include Clifton Warrior, Pour Pavore, Coastal World and Mahlers Dollar.

The son of Fame And Glory beat Santonito on debut at Fairyhouse and that form looks solid as the runner-up was just touched off by the selection's highly-regarded stablemate Embassy Gardens at Leopardstown on Monday.
