INDIGO BREEZE was snapped up for 140,000 pounds at the Cheltenham Festival Sale after winning an English point-to-point last spring, and justified odds-on favouritism when taking a Thurles bumper in good style. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding was just denied by the well-regarded Keskonrisk when switched to hurdles at Fairyhouse, and this extra half-mile should play to his strengths. Gaillard Du Mesnil won a French three-year-old bumper and was also placed in Graded events. He had Takarengo well behind when the pair filled minor places behind Holymacapony in a 2m4f maiden hurdle at Punchestown last month and looks the obvious threat. Great Bear was runner-up to a useful sort in Magic Tricks at Navan, while Barney Stinson and Gaspard Du Seuil are others to note.

UNEXPECTED DEPTH was bought for 75,000 pounds after winning a four-year-old point-to-point at Loughrea and impressed when successful twice over hurdles last year including at the Listowel Festival. The Oliver McKiernan-trained gelding was absent for over a year until upped to three miles at Punchestown earlier this month and finished strongly to score again under an inexperienced amateur. The son of Shantou could well progress from that run and may defy an 8lb rise in the ratings. Jukebox Jive is a useful staying handicapper on the Flat and landed the valuable November Handicap in Naas last year. His form over hurdles had been a bit underwhelming until getting it all together at Navan last time with a wide-margin win in a Grade B event at Navan. However, the handicapper took a dim view with a 16lb hike. The Bosses Oscar beat all bar the front-running Flooring Porter in a valuable Navan handicap over this trip and remains of interest.

SIRE DU BERLAIS has landed the last two renewals of the Pertemps Network Final at the Cheltenham Festival, and the eight-year-old showed he's now better than a high-class handicapper when making a successful reappearance in the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle at Navan. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding accounted for French Dynamite and Sixshooter and is now taken to make his mark at the highest level. Ronald Pump was running a fine race when falling at the last in the Lismullen and has since finished strongly behind Honeysuckle in the Hatton's Grace. Elliott holds a strong hand here with The Storyteller, a Grade 1 winner over fences last time, and Fury Road whose stamina is also proven having been just denied in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham last March.

ARCTIC LIGHT appears best on good ground but may still overcome the conditions. The Iffraaj gelding was successful on debut in a Punchestown bumper but hasn't really lived up to expectations since with a Sligo handicap hurdle the only other victory in 27 subsequent starts. Recent form is more encouraging having been just denied when reappearing over fences at Kilbeggan and beating all bar Take All, who ran well here on Saturday, on heavy ground at Cork. Ashqar is another suited by good ground and ran well on his last hurdle start at Punchestown. Aircraft Carrier showed promise in a maiden over course and distance last Christmas and outran odds of 100/1 when beating all bar Cape Gentleman last time in the Cesarewitch. The first reserve Bloodstone could be a danger to all if getting a run in what would be his first handicap.

A tremendous renewal of what should be the highlight of the Christmas Festival meeting, and MINELLA INDO gets the vote. The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding was a top-class staying novice over hurdles and has done little wrong since switching to fences. He was collared closed home in the RSA Chase at Cheltenham last March but comes here on the back of two confidence-boosting wins in lesser company. Presenting Percy has joined Gordon Elliott this season and looked back to something like his best when readily beating the reopposing Kemboy at Thurles last month. Delta Work overcame a below-par reappearance to win this last year so perhaps he can be forgiven a lacklustre effort last time at Down Royal, while it will be fascinating to see how the likes of Samcro, A Plus Tard and Fakir D'oudairies perform upped in trip.

There ought to be plenty to come from THE BIG GETAWAY over fences. Willie Mullins has made no secret of his desire to send this Grade One-placed hurdler over fences this season and it could be argued that he was disappointing when beaten into third on chasing debut at Navan earlier this month, but he is highly likely to come on from that run as it was his first in almost nine months. He is a big, strong horse with a point-to-point victory in his locker. His stablemate Karl Der Grosse attracted plenty of support for a novice chase at Galway in July before finishing third. The horses in front of him have both obliged since, so his chance is certainly respected. Floueur is another that should have a career over fences. He was only 100/30 for a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse where he made a couple of bad mistakes on the way to sixth place and he is sure to be well schooled for this second assignment over the bigger obstacles.

UNBREAKABLE BOND could be another winner for Barry Connell who is having a good season. This Shirocco gelding was a decent second (and clear of the remainder) in a point-to-point for Denis Murphy in April last year, and the winner was good enough to land a Punchestown bumper on his next start. Connell's horses don't tend to lack fitness coming off a break. San Salvador got collared at the business end in Fairyhouse and dropped to fourth but looks a player with Joseph O'Brien going for four in a row in this race. Ramillies has been off since running fourth in a bumper at this festival last year. He represents the powerful Mullins axis and has obvious claims. Hamundarson was a couple of places in front of him that day, but has flattered to deceive since. On the plus side, Hugh McOwan makes good use of his opportunities in bumpers and his 7lb claim is more than handy. Supreme Jet was a good winner of a point-to-point off the front. The form hasn't been franked, but it could be dangerous to give him too much rope on racecourse debut for Oliver McKiernan.
