FLETCHER confirmed the promise shown in a Gowran Park bumper last term when a pleasing sixth, less than 10 lengths behind the high-class Windsor Park, on his hurdling/seasonal debut over C&D and, open to any amount of improvement, he could prove difficult to beat in a less taxing maiden. Heck Thomas is entitled to strip fitter for his comeback fifth at Cork and a much improved effort with McCoy coming in for the ride wouldn't surprise. Aidan O'Brien's Mentor is worth a market check ahead of his introduction.

A poor turnout for this valuable prize, but a great chance for VAUTOUR to get his exciting career back on track. Last season's Supreme Novices' Hurdle hero was brilliant when making a winning start to his chasing career at Navan before the wheels fell off somewhat in a Grade 1 here over Christmas. He made one seriously bad mistake before tiring to take a share of second, but has apparently shown no ill effects at home since, with Willie Mullins letting him loose again so quickly, and he can blitz his two opponents before hopefully returning to Cheltenham in March. Real Steel also disappointed in that Grade 1 event here (13 lengths behind Vautour) but he is a class above the 11-year-old Aladdins Cave.

A typically red-hot renewal of this valuable handicap and it can go the way of last year's sixth SNAKE EYES. He broke his duck over hurdles in a rock-solid contest at Sandown last month, form which has been boosted by the fourth and fifth in the interim. He is lightly raced for his age and appears leniently handicapped off 128. The chief threat may come from another JP McManus runner in the shape of Waxies Dargle, whose mark is unchanged after his comfortable Fairyhouse success in November. Clondaw Warrior ran disappointingly in The Ladbroke but it's far too early to write him off. He is feared along with Rock The World and Lucky Bridle, while Kashmir Peak isn't discounted for each-way purposes having regained the winning thread at Doncaster.
