This offspring of Royal Anthem displayed a fair level of ability in 11 starts on the level for Henry Cecil (winning over 1m) and he has since joined the Irish champion NH trainer. Ballyburke wasn't disgraced in Grade 2 company over 2m4f at Navan last time and dropping back in trip should help his cause while another hurdling debutant, Crimson Sky, and talented bumper performer, Old McDonald, both warrant respect.
Bumper winner Ballyburke sets a good standard on the form of his second to Fully Funded in a Grade 2 at Navan and is proven under similar conditions. Rattan is an interesting recruit for the Mullins yard and Eightybarackstreet is expected to go well.

GATES OF ROME gets the vote to break his duck over fences at the fourth time of asking. Although outclassed in Grade 1 company behind Realt Dubh over C&D last time, he ran that same rival to 6-lengths in Grade 2 company at Punchestown previously and a repeat of that effort would make him difficult to beat. Tawaagg has three hurdle wins under his belt and warrants respect first time over the larger obstacles, while Healys Bar would have every chance if recapturing the sort of form which saw him get within 1 3/4-lengths of Noble Prince at Punchestown in October.
Rahan De Marcigny has been shaping is a win over fences was forthcoming in a couple of similar events and looks to have been found a suitable opportunity to break his duck over the larger obstacles. Tawaagg was close to the best of these over timber and is respected, whilst Shirley Casper is good enough to place.

It's difficult to look past JESSIES DREAM in his bid to complete the hat-trick. Although probably a shade fortunate to win the Grade 1 Drinmore Chase at Fairyhouse last time (Mikael D'Haguenet upsides when falling at the last), the form of that race looks rock solid with the second and fourth horses both landing Grade 1s of their own since and he's a gelding certainly heading in the right direction. Magnanimity will love the testing underfoot conditions and is most feared, while Western Charmer looks best of the rest.
A potentially informative graded contest in spite of the small field, with Drinmore winner Jessies Dream conceding 7 lb to his rivals, but he may have to give best to the improving Magnanimity. Western Charmer is another with decent claims and can take third place.

Dooneys Gate scored over 2m 1f here a year ago and, although well beaten at Aintree in Listed company back in April, he could go well on his seasonal bow. Jayo has turned in some good efforts over fences in the past two years but hasn't won since April '09 and a place may be his best hope. SILENT CREEK is much less experienced over fences than most of these rivals but his third at Limerick last month was a fine effort and, with more to come, he should reward support today.
Plenty of these have a bit to prove at present, so the vote goes to Silent Creek, one of the few that ran well last time out. Bottom weight Askmeroe is unexposed over fences and may be the biggest danger ahead of suspect jumper Jayo.

Not a race on which to risk the mortgage but a small wager on FINAL APPROACH might be worth rising. A maiden winner at Downpatrick in the spring, he's run on the Flat over the summer before returning to timber with a good fourth at Fairyhouse last month. This is tougher but he looks open to plenty of improvement. Prima Vista has won two of his last three starts but a massive 15lb penalty might anchor him while Tijuana Dancer has been knocking on the door but may need help from the handicapper.
As competitive as handicaps get and very few of the 26-strong field can be ruled out entirely. Tijuana Dancer makes as much appeal as any from a point of handicapping and is given the nod tentatively ahead of Prince of Fire and Whodoyouthink.

In a wide-open contest, preference is for Gordon Elliott's seven-year-old THE SHEPHERD. Never out of the first three in his last seven starts, his C&D success last month was most impressive and he should have enough in hand to defy a 9lb rise in the weights. The highly-tried Ainama won at Cork last time and is in good form but may have too much weight now while Navan scorer Sivota has been beaten twice since and could also do with some help from the handicapper.
Sivota and The Shepherd both hold solid claims in this staying handicap, but neither are likely to have escaped the notice of the bookies, and it could pay to side with the well-handicapped Ambobo.

With no form to go on, it could pay to side with Nina Carberry, who seems virtually unbeatable in 'bumpers' at present, winning on three of her last four rides in these contests. Her last success came for Charlie Swan, trainer of RODRIGUEZ, a nicely bred gelding who cost connections 22,000 pounds as a three-year-old. He looks the one to be on here. Waheeb is related to some nice jumping sorts and may prove the danger while the German-bred Annus Maximus is well related and could go well first time out.
The Dermot Weld stable took this with the exciting Hidden Universe last year and look to have a strong contended again in the shape of Waaheb. Eddie Hales's Annus Maximus has to be respected and Rodriquez should also go well.
