Simon Munir and Issac Souede have had a fantastic time of things lately and they look to have found another potentially exciting type in SALIX. A winner on the level at Pornichet on his debut last month, the son of Grey Risk was subsequently gelded and looks to fit the ideal profile for his owners who have sent him to Ben Pauling, who has already recorded a Listed success to them. Redicean was a decent performer on the Flat and was last seen winning a Redcar handicap off 80, while Kings Inn is another to consider on his debut for Paul Nicholls.
REDICEAN put up a useful performance when winning on final start for David O'Meara at Redcar in October, and he ought to be thereabouts if transferring that ability over to hurdles for a yard that does very well with its juveniles. Salix and Kings Inn are others to note in what it is likely to be an informative event.

A substandard renewal of a contest that has gone to some of National Hunt's leading two mile chasers in recent years, including Sprinter Sacre (2011) and Altior 12 months ago. Shantou Rock was beaten on his second outing over fences by Ozzie The Oscar at Warwick and looks flattered by being top rated in the field due to his Newton Abbot success in October as his rivals were likely to have needed the outing on that occasion. One of those rivals was The Unit, who improved when third behind Willoughby Court at Huntingdon and that form has stood up rather well. Tommy Silver's form took a boost when Testify won at Haydock at the weekend and better ground will help his cause, but his stablemate CYRNAME makes plenty of appeal. He didn't look particularly happy when runner-up at Newbury last time and a return to a right-handed track gives him every chance of regaining the winning thread.

MIDNIGHT TOUR shaped well on her first try at 3m when third to La Bague Au Roi in a Listed contest here last month and a return to handicap company with Kevin Dowling's 7lb allowance could make her difficult to beat. Midnight Tune got off the mark over hurdles last time but it was a modest contest and she will need to take a step forward on what she has achieved to date, so perhaps the main danger will be Jester Jet, who was third to Arthur's Gift in a Cheltenham handicap earlier in the month. Any rain would suit Rons Dream with her best form coming on testing ground.
JESTER JET has thrived on racing this season, and she seems sure to give another good account back against her own sex. Midnight Tour did enough last time to suggest she remains in form and has to be respected, while Midnight Tune has been a big beneficiary of her yard's resurgence and can go well again.

Special Tiara landed this prize in 2014 and 2016 and is the class act of the race having landed the Champion Chase at Cheltenham back in March. He is likely to have come on significantly for his reappearance third at that venue last month, though the progressive POLITOLOGUE could have too much for him this time. The six-year-old beat a decent yardstick in the shape of Fox Norton in the Tingle Creek earlier this month and can continue his progress. Forest Bihan and Vaniteux desperately need the two market leaders to misfire in order to be competitive.
POLITOLOGUE’s performance in the Tingle Creek at Sandown was almost faultless, and he’s already looking a serious candidate for the Champion Chase in March. Special Tiara has to be strongly respected as he knows the ropes and is entitled to strip fitter for last month's reappearance.

It might pay to side with DEXCITE in what looks a tricky 'getting out stakes' for punters. There was lots to like about his comeback fourth behind subsequent winner Irish Roe at Doncaster earlier in the month and he is entitled to improve for that first outing since June 2016. Mister Malarky won a decent novices' hurdle over C&D when last sighted and he makes plenty of appeal now making the switch to handicap company, while Kayf Grace, Darling Maltaix and Demon D'aunou are others to keep an eye on.
CHATEZ proved that all his ability remains intact when runner-up in a handicap on the Flat in October, and he's of strong interest back in this sphere off a potentially lenient mark.
