The well-bred Dittander represents powerful connections and is well worth a market check, but AR COLLEEN AINE showed a good attitude when fourth at Pontefract on debut and normal improvement can see her open her account. Howlin'for You is bred to to do better over further, but she represents a trainer/owner combination renowned for juvenile success and market support would look extremely significant.

Ar Colleen Aine showed promise on her Pontefract debut and should go well, but she doesn't set the bar that high and this could be a race which goes the way of a newcomer, with Richard Hannon's Dittander just preferred to Howlin'for You.

Most of these have the potential to do better now upped in trip, but HIGH MASTER looks the most obvious choice as a son of High Chaparral and a relative of 1m4f-2m AW winner Gandalf. Rose Kazan sets the standard on the book and is feared most, while Good Value and Merry Me undoubtedly have more to offer, although the last-named doesn't boast a pedigree that screams middle-distances.

Rose Kazan shaped well when runner-up at Redcar last time and can get off the mark at the fifth time of asking, though the likes of Merry Me and Good Value are unlikely to make life easy for her in what looks quite a tight race.

Market support for Mack's Sister would be intriguing following a 405-day break, but preference is for TRIPLE AITCH, who ran well on his second start for these connections when a close third at Wolverhampton and subsequent 1lb rise leaves him competitively handicapped, despite remaining a 15-race maiden.

Angelic Air, a half-sister to 1m4f AW winner Fledged, showed plenty of ability when third on debut at Newmarket and ought to have more to offer returned from a break in the first-time hood. The three-year-old holds obvious claims for her in-form handler, but she might struggle to concede race fitness to ARCTIC MOON, who left her debut form well behind when second at Kempton and will have no problems returned to 7f. Inheritance made a promising introduction last autumn and is another to consider.

Watch out for: Angelic Air (3)

Angelic Air made an encouraging start to her career when a close third at Newmarket last backend and can provide her in-form stable with yet another winner. Godolphin's Arctic Moon is the obvious danger after shaping quite nicely on her reappearance here, though it also wouldn't be a surprise if the well-bred Inheritance stepped up significantly on last autumn's debut.

Sea The Stars' first crop are expected to come into their own as three-year-olds this campaign and he is the sire of Ascending Angel, but marginal preference is given to ZYNAH. The Godolphin filly is the first foal out of Vincennes, a German Group 3 winner and a half-sister to Cape Cross, so should have the class to figure. Marweena is entitled to improve on her debut fourth, although Shasta Daisy looks to have more scope despite a bitterly disappointing effort at Leicester.

Watch out for: Ascending Angel (2)

Shasta Daisy could be worth another chance after bombing out at Leicester, but it's not hard to make stronger cases for some of the newcomers and Zynah is taken to continue the fine form of Saeed bin Suroor and make a successful debut. Rekdhat and Ascending Angel also make appeal on paper.

Telegraph is entitled to strip fitter for his reappearance fifth and is considered, but the suggestion is DESPOT, who tired badly in soft ground at Leicester on his final start last year but ought to have much more to offer as a three-year-old handicapper. Similar comments apply to Glebe Spirit, who returns to a more suitable trip, and Why Not Now, who represents an in-form operation.

An interesting 3-y-o handicap with a number undoubtedly having their best days ahead of them. Telegraph ran well for a long way on his return at Bath last week, and should strip fitter now. However, Why Not Now comes here on a tempting mark given pedigree/connections and she looks worth chancing after the form of her latest maiden third here in January has worked out extremely well.
