With several high-profile yards targeting the race, this could be an active betting heat. The likes of Central Hall, Regal Rambler and Melfet all have the potential to improve and are worth monitoring for signs of support. However, there is no escaping the fact that, at 260,000gns, ALNILAM has a lofty price tag to live up to and this does look to be a good starting point for the son of Sea The Stars. He is out of as half-sister to National Stakes winner Pathfork and, on pedigree potential alone, he looks the most interesting contender on show.

Watch out for: Central Hall (4)

Despite looking very green, MELFET shaped with distinct promise when finishing fifth in a C&D maiden that has worked out very well on debut back in December and he could be worth siding with to overcome a wide draw and take a step forward on return for his leading stable. Central Hall and Regal Rambler rate next best, whilst Alnilam is very much a newcomer to note for another leading outfit.

The Gosden team have always been noted for a patient approach with younger horses and they are pitching COURAGE MON AMI at a realistic level for his racecourse bow. The son of Frankel is out of a full-sister to Bronze Cannon, who was trained by John Gosden when he won here as a juvenile, so any family traits passed on will be familiar to the trainer. The colt looks worth chancing in an ordinary-looking maiden. Firebolt was a clear second to a useful type at Catterick last time and is likely to be thereabouts once more. Hexameter already has a good bit of experience to draw from and sets a fair standard based on her official rating of 80.

Watch out for: Firebolt (9)

HEXAMETER ran with credit in a couple of handicaps last month and, now returned to maiden company, this looks a good opportunity for her. Star Legend is very much the type to improve with experience and he's a threat, while it will be interesting to see what Ready To Shine is capable of on return from 11 months off.

This is a bit of a minefield as only Menalippe has actually managed to win a race so far and she looks vulnerable giving weight away to the rest, despite her 6lb penalty being negated by Taylor Fisher's 7lb claim. Several of these step into nursery company for the first time and, with that in mind, STINTINO SUNSET is forwarded as a speculative selection. Julia Fielden's filly improved for the step up to this trip last time out and could be decent value in the betting to reverse Chelmsford form with the top weight from June. Drum Brae Boy ran well on his nursery debut when third here at the start of the month and is open to further progression.

MUMAYAZ endured a torrid passage here 12 days ago over a shorter distance, but ran on nicely to finish fifth and, dropped 2lb for that effort by the handicapper, he could gain his first success of the season. Falesia Beach rates the chief threat after some solid runs in handicap company and a win in novice company at Chepstow last month showed the filly is still in good heart. Global Warning appears best of the remainder after a good second at Wolverhampton in August.

LUTTRELL LAD has found things happening a little bit quickly for him over shorter recently and an opening mark of 77 appears to be workable. He gets the vote to gain a first success on the Flat, with the extra distance here very much in his favour. Mukha Magic has been in excellent form of late, bringing up the hat-trick at Chelmsford last month, and a 4lb rise shouldn't prevent another bold showing. Mountain Road went close over C&D last time and won't be far away once again.
