An fascinating opener. Russian Sage was a dual Group 1 winner in his native South Africa and filled the runner-up spot in a Group 2 in Duabi earlier in the year. He has been a little disappointing on both his UK this year but warrants the utmost respect dropped in grade here. All-weather specialist Philatelist flopped at HQ latest but will relish a return to this surface, while Pachattack rates a leading player after two good seconds at Newmarket. A chance, however, is taken on ANMAR who hasn't raced for a over a year but he showed plenty of ability in three starts as a juvenile, especially when chasing home subsequent Group 1 winner Zafisio in a Listed heat at Goodwood. His stable remains in tremendous form and he will be fully wound up for his reappearance.
Anmar is interesting, not least because Godolphin are in terrific form and boast a 34% strike rate at this venue; they can get one ready following a lengthy absence, too. However, if Pachattack reproduces the form she showed at Newmarket on her last 2 starts on her first try on polytrack she will take some stopping. Farley Star can't be discounted back up in trip.

Very Distinguished could be of interest up in trip and back in handicap company while Bedarra Boy warrants respect on his flat return following a good second over timber. VALKYRIE has made the frame on his last three starts and continues to slip down the handicap so it would be no surprise to see her get off the mark this evening. Soul Singer is sliding down the ratings and could be set for a bold bid on his handicap return.

MASS RALLY has improved with each outing to date and only went down by half a length over 7f at Yarmouth latest. He proved he acts on polytrack when second at Lingfield previously and John Gosden's charge can gain a deserved first success this evening. Slip Sliding Away wasn't disgraced when finishing third of four first time out and is entitled to come on for that experience. He rates a threat along with Sir Michael Stoute's newcomer, Ertiyaad, and Fetching, a debutante from the Barry Hills stable.
Warning Song kept on well over course and distance last time and is just preferred to Mass Rally, who has also been knocking on the door. Slip Sliding Away made an encouraging debut last week and could also feature, though all 3 are vulnerable to some potentially useful newcomers.

Hidden Glory recovered well from a slow start to finish a creditable fourth of 16 on his debut over 7f ta Leicester and, having looked green in the preliminaries, he should be much wiser for the experience. Mawaddah is the most experienced in this line-up and looks sure to go well if taking to polytrack, but this could go to a newcomer in the shape of NEXT MOVE. He cost 140,000gns and Godolphin's juveniles have been in sparkling form in recent months, so winning a debut could well be on the cards. Marie De Guise and Vocabulary are other newcomers to note.
Hidden Glory and Mawaddah have the best form, but Godolphin have been carrying all before them in recent weeks and well-bred newcomer Next Move could prove too good for that pair.

A tricky puzzle for punters to solve, but there is plenty to like about ARTEUS who opened his account over C&D in August and left a couple of disappointing effort behind to score at Folkestone last month. EAGLE NEBULA takes a notable step up in trip tonight but shaped as though further would suit when narrowly held over 1m 2f here last time out. He won in good style the time before and is progressing well so she is taken to regain the winning thread here. Colourful Move, a C&D winner off a 4lb higher mark in April, hinted at a return to form latest and could give the selection most to think about, while Black Or Red is no forlorn hope if back on song after a disappointing effort.

ATHAAKEEL is taken to land what looks a tricky 'getting out stakes' for punters. She is sure to be brimming with confidence on the back of her comfortable victory in selling company at Lingfield just over three weeks ago and this looks a very winnable handicap. Yanza has been knocking on the door recently and should be in the thick of the action once again, while The Name Is Frank could go well off a low weight on his all-weather debut.
