An impressive Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes winner at Newbury three weeks ago, ROYAL EMPIRE ticks plenty of boxes for Saeed bin Suroor. Not only did he outstay some useful form yardsticks in Red Cadeaux, Lost In the Moment, Genzy (subsequent Ebor runner-up) and Aiken on that occasion, he sprinted clear like a real classy individual and made a huge impression. The Teofilo colt shaped with plenty of promise in competitive Meydan handicaps on the tapeta surface earlier this year and should therefore thrive reverting to an all-weather surface. Main Sequence can be forgiven his Pontefract flop and should go close here if back to his best, while Masterstroke and Wigmore Hall can also have their say.

FUTURE REFERENCE is 4lb higher than when a head second at Sandown last month and that rise might not be enough to stop him making his presence felt once more.
