Jonjo O'Neill's FORT ORD went close over this trip last month and should go one better this afternoon having scored over a shorter distance at Sandown on his latest start. He's up in the weights for that win but a decent claiming jockey in the saddle today should be enough to see him home. Needle Prick is an improving sort for a top stable while Safe To Blush could take advantage of the weight that she receives all round.
UNGARO was a top class hurdler last term and demonstrated his credentials in this sphere by opening his account at the first attempt at Kelso last month. The step up in trip should not be a problem and Keith Reveley's 7y-o could make it two from two over fences. Afrad has not been seen since June when soundly beaten on the Flat but Muhtenbar should strip fitter for his recent outing at Market Rasen and may be more of a force this afternoon.
Bradley Boy has barely put a foot wrong in his short career and he battled on to score at the first attempt over timber, narrowly beating hot favourite Leading Contender. There could be more to come from him but Jonjo O'Neill's DANCEWITHTHEDEVIL makes slightly more appeal. He looked a shade inconsistent in bumpers earlier in the year but he will have been extensively schooled for his hurdling bow and goes well on the forecast good ground. More Trouble looks best of the rest.
Not a lot of hurdling form to work with here but the style in which Phillip Hobbs' TRITONIX scored at Bangor suggests he could make light work of this opposition. J P McManus' expensive acquisition was a decent Flat performer in his native France and couldn't have scored any easier on his UK and hurdling bow earlier this month. A similar performance should suffice this afternoon with Nedd Ludd and Intersky Music probably having to settle for minor honours.
Irish point-to-point winner BROKEN REED scored on his first two efforts in this country earlier in the year and it would be no surprise to see him land a hat-trick on his first public appearance over the larger obstacles. College Ace is entitled to improve on only his second start over fences but Master T seems to save his best efforts for Plumpton.
Dempsey and Racing Demon both unseated during an eventful William Hill Gold Cup Chase at Exeter last month when the latter was well fancied. Today's step up in trip is likely to suit Henrietta Knight's 6y-o but he will do very well to beat the experienced MONKERHOSTIN. Phillip Hobbs' popular gelding competed at the very top last term and will take all the beating if returning to action anywhere near his best. Thisthatandtother is another class act well worthy of a mention and he was third in this race last year.
WOT WAY CHIEF is an improving type who may have enough scope to defy the handicapper and follow-up his recent success at Market Rasen. Mikado Melody is of interest up in trip from his recent victory but course winner Into The Shadows could give the selection most to do if he manages to recapture the form that saw him land a valuable handicap at Ayr in April.
