An open novices' chase to kick things off, in which RHYMERS HA' gets the tentative vote. Lucinda Russell's charge made a promising start to his chasing career when runner-up behind the useful Jack The Gent at Kelso last month (third has franked the form since) and, entitled to have learnt plenty from that experience, he looks sure to mount a bold bid in this event. Bygones Of Brid should give it a good go from the front end. He won over 2m5f at the track latest so Brian Hughes won't be messing about in terms of setting the pace, while Grey Soldier and Teledo Gold are other respected players.

Descaro has been in cracking form recently and looks sure to be in the shake-up once again, but having made three appearances already this month could make him slightly vulnerable and a chance is taken on VIA ARCHIMEDE. The eight-year-old was far from disgraced in a handicap over course and distance eight days ago and that first outing since November will have blown any cobwebs away. Sparkling Tara has as many letters as figures next to his name at the moment but he's no forlorn dropped in grade for his hurdling return.

Watch out for: Descaro (1)

Descaro pulled clear of the third when attempting to concede weight to a useful sort at Uttoxeter during the week, and should go close if over those exertions. Mia's Vic is feared most, with Via Archimede perhaps best of the others having run well enough over C&D last time.

Things Change will have plenty of supporters following his gritty Cartmel success, but he encounters much faster ground conditions this afternoon and HOWWOULDUNO is preferred. The Irish raider won nicely over 2m at Down Royal last month and Graham Watters 7lb claim, which he is great value for, will come in very handy. God's County is clearly a lot better than showing on his two starts for Sophie Leech in August and, in a moderate event, he could be another worth noting on his return to action.

Watch out for: Things Change (2)

The drop back to 2m is a slight worry for Things Change, but the stiff finish will play to his strengths and he's taken to get the better of fellow last-time-out winner Howwoulduno. Oakwell may prove best of the rest, though market support would also bring God's County into the reckoning.

He was by no means disgraced in a class 3 handicap off 1lb higher at Market Rasen last time and both trip and ground conditions today will suit. Morning Time must come into the reckoning following his two-length course and distance success, but it is the runner-up from that contest, BROTHER SCOTT, who gets the nod. He is 3lb better off with Lucinda Russell's charge today and at just six years of age, there should be plenty more to come. Bunratty won nicely in this sphere at Wetherby prior to finishing fourth in a course chase eight days ago and he has definite claims in this contest with the talented Tony Kelly claiming a valuable 5lb.
