When last seen over fences, THE UNIT was pitched into the Pendil at Kempton and emerged with credit after chasing home Cyrname. Since then, he has finished in mid-division in a couple of really competitive handicap hurdles, and this appears an excellent opportunity for him. It isn't a penalty kick, though, because Jacks Last Hope was smart over the smaller obstacles himself and got on the scoresheet in this sphere at Perth last month. SILVER CONCORDE rediscovered some of the sparkle that carried him to Champion Bumper glory back in 2014 during a profitable mid-winter spell, and this is a far more suitable test for than him than the Aintree Grade 1 and Chester Cup he has contested since. A reasonably quick turnaround was no problem for MY ESCAPADE, who backed up her Perth victory at Cartmel just 11 days later. Those wins came over hurdles and Simon Waugh's mare is 5lb lower in this sphere so is backed to complete the hat-trick. She didn't fire on her only previous chase appearance and if she fails to take to it again, there are plenty who could capitalise, not least C&D victors Inchcolm, Apache Pilot and Gibbstown, as well as Follow The Swallow.

NEWSTART was snapped up out of the Brian Ellison yard after landing a seller here and while that form would appear to be ordinary in the context of a handicap, the minor placegetters have since come out and won so Katy Scott's new recruit is worth sticking with. Cherry Princess scored at this venue last month, but was only third to Back To Balloo less than two weeks prior and isn't really that much better off at the weights. Red Ochre is another to consider.
