HIGH STANDING progressed through the ranks last term and looked very good when landing a Group 3 at Newbury in July. He ended the campaign with fine efforts in top-notch company and will take all the beating here if resuming somewhere near his peak. Inxile wasn't disgraced in the Duke Of York last time and looks certain to win more races at this level at the very least. He's considered the main threat with a fitness edge, but the rejuvenated Rose Blossom is another to fear getting her weight allowance.
High Standing sets the standard on form. However, the trip is far from sure to suit and he may be undone by some speedier types, notably Inxile and Rose Blossom. Slight preference is for the latter, who created a good impression with her victory at York last time.

MISTER MANANNAN failed to make much of an impact in a French Group 3 earlier in the month but Dandy Nicholls' charge was backed like a big run was expected that day and could be up to making a successful return to UK soil. Rainfall could hardly have won more impressively on her Thirsk debut at the start of the month and looks a filly to follow, but the steep rise in grade could just prove too much at this stage. Angel's Pursuit was kept very busy at two but resumed with a win at Newbury recently and he looks likely to play a part, along with the returning Quarrel and David Simcock's Layla's Hero.
Mister Manannan can put a poor run in France behind him and return to winning ways. Bewitched, Angel's Pursuit, Rainfall and Khattaab are all likely players, too.

BARSHIBA sets a hot standard and there was plenty to like about the way she battled to victory in a Listed heat at Ascot earlier in the month. David Elsworth's filly, a Group 2 winner last summer, is likely to be heading for the Hardwicke Stakes at the Royal meeting next month and should take top honours here en route. The potential fly in the ointment is ex-French filly Becqu Adoree, who was last seen being beaten less than 3 lengths in last year's Prix Vermeille and has since joined Luca Cumani. Les Fazzani and Three Moons complete the shortlist.
Barshiba ran away with the Lancashire Oaks over C&D last summer and is likely to make a bold bid, having proved her well-being when winning at Ascot 3 weeks ago. Becqu Adoree, Rosika and Polly's Mark look the main threats, with the last-named having the benefit of a recent run.

Main Aim is likely to be all the rage here after flashing home for third in the Duke Of York on his seasonal reappearance, but marginal preference is for LORD SHANAKILL. A Group 1 winner over a mile in France last term, the son of Speightown made a fine start for the Henry Cecil team when third in the Lockinge a fortnight ago and the drop back to 7f looks certain to suit. Dream Eater is also eased in class having contested the Group 2 Diadem Stakes at Ascot last time out in September, but his lack of a recent run is an obvious negative.
Main Aim will prove very difficult to beat if in the same form as when bolting up in this event last year, and his promising return suggests he's getting back on track. Lord Shanakill brings Group 1 form to the table and looks the main danger ahead of Doncaster Rover, who shaped as if this trip would suit last time.

Richard Hannon's juveniles are enjoying another terrific campaign and ROYAL EXCHANGE looks a winner-in-waiting after his fine debut second at Newbury. The winner (who is now among the market leaders for the Coventry Stakes) and third home have franked the form since and it will take a good one to beat him here. Tom Dascombe's newcomers are always worth noting in the market and Ballista must have been showing the right signs at home to merit a Listed-race entry later in the year. Countrywide Flame is related to winners and could also give the selection something to think about.
There was a lot to like about Royal Exchange's debut effort at Newbury last month, and it will be a surprise if he doesn't go one better here. Countrywide Flame and Ballista look the pick of the debutants.

There seems every chance that DAZINSKI can follow up her on his 2m win at Ripon last month. He scored with something in hand in a similar contest and another 4lb today seems unlikely to anchor him. Crackentorp was second in this grade over 1m 4f at York this month and runs off the same mark but he was well held that day and has never tackled this sort of marathon trip. Bow To No One is running into form but has something to find on his best efforts.
A number have stamina to prove trying 2m for the first time, but one with no such worries is Bollin Felix, who has presumably been saved for this after his second 12 months ago, with any rain enhancing his chances further. Dazinski is most progressive and should be feared, while My Arch, Keenes Day and Aaim To Prosper are all likely types as well.

Andrew Balding's charge, Fireback, won with plenty in hand in a 0-90 handicap at Lingfield recently. He's raised 6lb by the handicapper but he should be competitive this afternoon. Preference, however, is for ETON FOREVER who represents Michael Jarvis' yard. He held a Derby entry and looked full of potential when winning on the all-weather over 1m at Kempton at the start of the month. Quiet needs to overcome a lengthy absence but won comfortably on her debut at Leicester last summer.
Eton Forever and Elspeth's Boy both have bags of potential, but preference is for the former who looked a pattern performer in the making when scoring impressively at Kempton last time. Bohemian Melody can complete the places.
