OYSTER SHELL has done very little wrong in his four starts over fences and this drop in class, combined with the return to a sharper track, may be enough to signal a return to the winner's enclosure. Witness In Court wasn't far behind him when they met at Ascot and a solid effort at Stratford has followed, but it remains to be seen whether a 1lb pull is enough for him to reverse form with the selection. Kitegen and Un Bon P'tit Gars are dangerously unexposed, while Val D'Arc deserves closer market inspection on his first start for new connections.

There looks to be plenty of pace on here, with confirmed front runners Bold Chief, Our Mick and Shotavodka likely to be on the front end, although the last-named might be ridden with more restraint taking a marked step up in trip. Such a scenario could leave No Planning and Niceonefrankie vulnerable, both of whom haven't fully convinced with their stamina capabilities at this trip, but CLOUDY TOO will be ideally suited by a strongly run 3m on good ground. Sue Smith's charge has an excellent record around here, and he can make a successful return to the handicapping ranks. Firebird Flyer remains of interest off his current mark, but he would be better suited by more give underfoot, while Hey Big Spender would hold claims if continuing in the same vein as when successful in veterans' company at Ascot 20 days ago. The main danger, though, might come from Kian's Delight, who ran well at Aintree following a 168-day break, and has conditions to suit despite being 4lb 'wrong' at the weights.

A race framed around a host of progressive novices, with Heath Hunter, Getabuzz and No No Mac the most interesting contenders from that bracket. The first-named, in particular, looks well treated off the same mark as when fourth at Ascot, a race in which he fared best of those racing up with a furious early gallop. Similar consideration is given to Bourne, who remains 11lb lower than when last successful and has been supported this season in the manner of a well -reated sort. Preference, however, is for ALL THAT REMAINS, who ran two fine races in defeat in the autumn, shaping as if still having more to give in this sphere. The nine-year-old's latest effort on the Flat at Pontefract can be forgiven as the ground was too soft and his usual tongue tie was left off.
