Michael Bell's inmate is up to a mark of 80 following yet another creditable performance in defeat at Newmarket last month, but that came in a competitive handicap and he's expected to take full advantage of the drop back into maiden company. Fun Mac has shown enough promise in two starts at Goodwood and Pontefract to suggest his maiden status will soon be a thing of the past, while Personal Opinion can also make the frame.

Preference is for experience, though, and MUSICAL COMEDY has been the subject of significant market support in nurseries both here and at York the last twice. An impressive Windsor maiden winner three starts ago, Richard Hannon's charge is improving for each visit to the track and looks the one to be on. BAAREZ makes plenty of appeal in this maiden with his Newmarket debut sure to have taught him plenty. The son of Hard Spun hung badly left into the stand's side rail from what looked a winnable position that day, but Roger Varian applies the first-time hood today and that is expected to straighten him out. Of the others, Rogue Wave should be thereabouts if running up to his mark of 80, but Tall Ship is feared most and could go close if stepping up on his debut effort.

A fascinating nursery despite just the four runners going to post. Emef Diamond stepped up on his Newbury (7f) debut third when landing a mile Thirsk maiden and he should give another good account under Silvestre De Sousa, while Latenightrequest and Zumurudah have also shown enough to suggest that they are capable of delivering. The vote, however, goes to Richard Hannon's ART OFFICIAL. He gamely landed a 7f Goodwood handicap prior to finishing down the field in a valuable sales race at Doncaster latest and stepping up to a mile for the first time is unlikely to pose any problems.
