MODEST displayed marked improvement when granted soft ground at Catterick 10 days ago and on just her third start in a nursery she got off the mark in good style. The daughter of Kyllachy quickened up stylishly at the furlong pole, putting the race to bed in no uncertain terms, and a 6lb penalty might not be enough to halt her progress while the ground remains on the easier side of good. Addicted To Luck and Pinky Promise rate best of the rest.

MODEST could be a filly to follow in the closing stages of the season and can make it back-to-back victories after impressing at Catterick last week. Harmonic Wave was also successful in ready fashion last time and is feared, while Addicted To Luck ran a blinder from the front off her mark at Windsor on Monday.

FUTOON sets a fair standard on her debut run when she was second to a useful sort here back in June. The 141 day absence is a worry but those with experience in this race don't look up to much even at this early stage of their careers. Marron is a half-sister to a couple of winners and she hails from the family of Hasili, the dam of the likes of Banks Hill, Dansili and Intercontinental. Electrostatic wasn't beaten too far at Goodwood last time and there could be more to come from her.

Deauville Prince has been in good form recently around Chester but whether he will translate those performances away from that unique track is up to some debate, while Mass Rally has shown a little bit of his old spark recently and cannot be ruled out. Beardwood disappointed last time out at Newmarket but something may have been amiss there as he has had a short break since. Provident Spirit has shown plenty of pace over 7f and 1m recently and deserves a shot at this distance, although he will need to improve to beat his stablemate Flyman, who has run well in two very competitive races recently and is handicapped to go well again.

Top Tip: Flyman (2)
Watch out for: Provident Spirit (7)

Plenty to consider, but the lightly-raced TIGER JIM might be the way to go after going down narrowly in the Ayr Bronze Cup last time. Mississippi ran well at Doncaster and is feared off the same mark, along with Provident Spirit and Straightothepoint.

NAVAJO WAR DANCE sets a high standard here following his fine third to two useful rivals in a conditions event at Newbury last month and he also finished a close second in a maiden at that earlier in the summer. The others with experience will need to take a big step forward to trouble the selection and his biggest dangers could come from the four debutantes. Baydar cost 85,000gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to the same connections' useful performer Aktabantay, while Vizier went unsold at 290,000gns, also as a yearling, and is out a mare who was fourth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

Mitchum Swagger looks a typical David Lanigan improver and when justifying favouritism over C&D last month, he really appreciated easy conditions underfoot. What may just get him beat in a handicap of this nature is experience, though, and for that reason a chance is taken on STETCHWORTH. Not seen since finishing behind another progressive Lanigan inmate at Chester in May, the son of New Approach remains on a feasible mark judged on that form and can show the benefit of having had a midsummer break. Express Himself knows his way around here but probably wants faster ground, while Ansaab is also considered.

ICE DREAM has shown a good level of improvement in maidens, enough to suggest a mark of 75 is a workable one now she goes handicapping for the first time. The step back up in trip should suit Tom Dascombe's charge and the first-time cheekpieces may just be the making of her. Mr Potter ran well for the silver medal on his return from a 64-day absence at Redcar last month and is just 2lb higher, while Island Flame represents an in-form stable and is another to take seriously.
