FIFE AND DRUM put in his best effort for some time to chase home the easy winner Mythical Charm over C&D last time. A repeat of that effort could suffice in a race that should not take too much winning. Temper Tantrum is better than these on his day, but was unable to get competitive in a seller last time. A return to somewhere near his best would put him in with a shout today. Norwegian was not disgraced last time and can be given an outside chance.
URBAN TIGER put in an improved effort to chase home the useful Anna Pavlova at Doncaster last time, and looks well up to winning a race of this standard on that evidence. China Pearl bettered previous efforts to finish a close second at Sandown last week. Any further progression would see him in the thick of things today. Rajaall and Rayhani both posted encouraging debut efforts in good company, and must be respected.
Iain McInnes has done well with LORD OF THE EAST since claiming the gelding out of Dandy Nicholls' yard in July. He has won two competitive handicaps already this month, and it would be no surprise to see him land the hat-trick today. Pic Up Sticks ended a spell in the wilderness with a game C&D victory last time, and has to be respected once again. Great Fox won at Yarmouth on a belated return to action and there could be more to come.
HAZYVIEW has won in Group 3 company this term, and he finished a good second to the highly regarded David Junior last time. If he can shrug aside the effects of a long season he may just have the class to see off today's rivals. Etesaal held on to beat Big Bad Bob by a neck last time and should confirm his superiority on better terms this afternoon. Impeller is a very good handicapper and has run well at this level in the past.
ROYAL JET has held his form well all season and he looks capable of another victory after an encouraging second behind the in-form Oblique last time. He looks sure to get the strong gallop that suits, and he should be in the thick of things once again. Kingdom Of Dreams has been rested since finishing a slightly disappointing fourth at Salisbury in June, but it would be no surprise to see him bounce back today. Firesong easily opened his account at Carlisle last time and looks sure to do much better.
COUNTRY PURSUIT put in a couple of creditable efforts in handicaps prior to a comfortable maiden success. He looks the type to do better now he has lost his maiden tag, and could go close in this. Top The Charts had become very frustrating, but finally got his head in front to land the odds last time. With his confidence boosted he looks capable of winning again. Ma'am has been highly tried in the past and she should hold her own in this company.
With three in-form previous C&D winners taking part, this is a tricky event to call. However, COSMIC DESTINY, who lost her maiden tag when victorious at the last meeting can improve once again, and is taken to follow up. Redwood Star has been very consistent recently and will not be far away this afternoon. Parkside Pursuit finished third to the in-form Holbeck Ghyll last time and hails from a stable that commands plenty of respect in these sprints.
