Uriah Heep undoubtedly has talent but he is becoming very expensive to follow and CLAUDE MONET is preferred. Jeremy Noseda's colt shaped with plenty of promise when third on his debut at Kempton last month and is sure to improve a good deal with that experience under his belt. Afraah has shaped encouragingly on both of her outings to date and with further improvement likely, she is accorded the utmost respect.

Top Tip: Claude Monet (7)
Watch out for: Uriah Heep (4)

Uriah Heep sets the standard but the way he folded at Newmarket on the back of a gelding operation last month was concerning. The promising Afraah may prove the safer option, while Claude Monet can be expected to build on a promising debut and should also be involved.

Heading North was narrowly denied over 7f at Kempton last time and the step up to a mile should suit. She sets the standard on form and should go well but CUSHION gets the verdict. Her Newmarket debut effort was certainly not devoid of promise and her Group 1 Fillies' Mile entry next month indicates that she is well thought of. Liber Nauticus, Great Timing and Brigh all make some appeal on debut and confidence behind any of them would be interesting.

Watch out for: Heading North (6)

Heading North has shown form good enough to think she can pick up a maiden but it would be no surprise to see some of the well-bred newcomers come to the fore. The market will be revealing but it's folly to ignore Godolphin's 2-y-os on debut and Great Timing is the selection ahead of Brigh.

Tobacco Road might not have had to step up too much on his promising debut effort to score at Lingfield last time but an opening mark of 80 looks fair and he should be thereabouts. The Sixties finally got off the mark at Newcastle last month and he has each way-claims here. Normal Equilibrium is a likely contender and New Pearl commands attention but it might be worth siding with SEJALAAT. His stable is really beginning to find form and if he settles better here than he did at Haydock last time, he can go close.

Watch out for: Normal Equilibrium (2)

All bar one of these are previous winners, yet it's the maiden Sejalaat who gets the vote, having shown promise last twice when his yard was in the doldrums. Normal Equilibrium is progressive but has a 4 lb rise for his York defeat to overcome while this may be a bit sharp for the stoutly-bred Tobacco Road.

STEELER had to settle for second best behind Dundonnell in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York last month but that was still a very solid effort and a reproduction of that display would probably make him tough to beat. Luhaif disappointed at Newmarket last time but he has claims on the form of his previous Group 2 third over this C&D. Tamayuz Star made a winning debut at Leicester and even though Richard Hughes rides Professor, he could still fare best of the Hannon duo.

Watch out for: Luhaif (2)

Steeler ran a blinder in a York Group 3 at this trip recently, but shapes as more of a stayer and it might be worth forgiving Professor his latest effort in a race that wasn't ran to best suit. He can provide the red-hot Hannon/Hughes team with another success, with the consistent maiden Jillnextdoor also worth considering.

WOOLFALL TREASURE hasn't tasted success for a couple of years but his latest close second to Address Unknown over 2m at Ascot gave the strong impression he was close to a seventh career win. The handicapper has stepped in with a 4lb rise but Gary Moore's charge remains on a fair mark based on the pick of his 2010 form and he has winning form at this venue. Fellow course winners Hurricane Higgins, Mystery Star and Trovare are all respected, but recent Doncaster runner-up Gassin Golf may put up most resistance in receipt of the three-year-old weight allowance.

A really open handicap in which APOLLO D'NEGRO is only a tentative choice. He is still rated 7lb higher than when last successful but his one-length fourth to Trade Secret in a hot Newmarket handicap last month left the impression he could still be on an upward curve. Camache Queen, Picture Dealer and Magic Secret feature on a long list of potential dangers.

Magic Secret again caught the eye in handicaps when sent off favourite in a big-field at Ascot in July. He remains with potential to do better in this sphere and can prove the point on his return from a short break. Jabhaat is the obvious starting point following her promising Newmarket debut second last month but BEAUTIFUL STORY is also open to plenty of improvement. There was a lot to like about her recent introductory effort over this C&D and course experience counts for plenty here. Azelle, Snow Rose and Solace also make the shortlist being once-raced juveniles from leading stables.

Watch out for: Jabhaat (5)

The form of the Newmarket maiden won so impressively by Winsili last month looks key and Jabhaat is taken to confirm placings with Solace and Neamour. Beautiful Story is very much another to consider.
