GRAND SEQUOIA possesses plenty of early pace and could take some pegging back. She was caught close home latest, but today's rivals don't appear to have the speed required to keep tabs on her in the early stages. Welcome Queen was forced to deliver her challenge three wide here last month and an easier trip will see her closer at the business end, while Pointe Taken finished behind the selection Oct 30, but is running well at present and could feature.
SOY TAIPAN's best speed figure on turf is better than the average needed to score at this level and his fourth at Santa Anita last month indicates he's in good order. Diamond Indy is another with good figures on turf, though may need the run on his return from a seven-month absence. Customer worked sharply over 3f recently and is eligible to improve on his third start back from a layoff.
TOP FRAME ran second in a better race on her debut and looks to have every chance of going one better today. Amber Pleasure hails from a barn that does well with its first time starters, while Same Ol' Love has yet to place in six starts, but runs with promise and could get involved.
MAJESTY RIDGE rallied to claim second over 6f here Nov 6 and may not have to improve greatly to take this event. American Moment makes his debut against winners for a new barn and warrants respect, along with Lifestream, though his failure as favourite on his last two starts tempers enthusiam slightly.
ROYAL CLASSIC was unable to go the pace in the early stages here last time, but closed nicely to take third. If he can keep up with the pace setters this time, he may prove too strong in the latter stages. Sterling Ridge finished second last time and could again figure, while Harbour Town has less to do than when third at Santa Anita last month and is also worth a mention.
King Of Legends and Irish Look were narrow winners in similar contests last time but Gaucho Wish, who romped home by 12l over a mile last time, makes more appeal. However, preference is for PREMIER DIABLO, the fastest of these over this trip and a good second in a much tougher race over C&D last time.
Glengoffe looked impressive when justifying heavy support on his debut by winning a $16k maiden claimer over C&D. This is tougher but he can't be ruled out. The speedy Real Temptation was second in a tougher race last time but has a habit of finding a couple too good for him and is passed over in favour of INDIVIDUAL KNIGHT, who scored with some ease last time. This is slightly tougher but he's won three of his five starts and looks capable of scoring again today.
This should chiefly concern Motivus and RAISE A TUNE. The former, the fastest of these on turf, won a similar race over seven and a half furlongs last time despite being checked on the rail. However, the selection, who also scored in similar last time, has been racing in much tougher company. The trip is in his favour and he looks open to further improvement.
Always Say Yes was third in a tougher race last time but may have a little to find. Ace In Spades never threatened on his debut run, despite being well backed, but might appreciate the step up in trip. ATTICUS IN STYLE could also benefit by being sent over this distance. He has to overcome an outside draw but has some good form in tougher contests and could prove too good in this company.
