BOLVING looked promising when winning on debut in a bumper at Kempton last February and was considered good enough for a crack at the main bumper at Aintree where he disappointed, pulling away his chance. A first-time tongue tie should assist the son of Stowaway who can hopefully be a decent prospect for his trainer Victor Dartnall. Accord has set a fair standard over timber and looks the strongest threat on paper, while Solighoster has shown ability in his two bumper starts and looks best of the remainder.

A poor contest on paper with the majority of these coming here out of form and with plenty of questions to answer. Wish In A Well bounced back to form somewhat at Fakenham when beating Troufion by 20 lengths but that form is not reliable in the slightest and he is well worth taking on with SLIDECHECK, who was tailed off when last seen here in December but has a first-time visor to assist and is 2lb lower than his last winning mark. Benability and Tenant Farmer are capable of improvement both with first-time headgear.

GOLDEN BIRTHDAY has shown plenty of ability in novice hurdles this season and he broke his duck over obstacles with an impressive display at Plumpton earlier this month. On that evidence an opening mark of 123 appears to be very fair, especially as there could be improvement to come on just his fourth start over fences. St Saviour parted with his jockey at an early stage at Wincanton last week but he would be a leading contender on his very narrow third at Hereford the time before. Prime Venture is another to have been in good form already this season and he is also shortlist material.

It is hard to get excited about the chances of any of these but the token selection would be VENETIAN LAD. The veteran has made the frame in 18 of his 33 starts at this track, winning on seven occasions, and there was much more promise in his most recent start at Plumpton.
