Hill Station was able to build on a couple of promising efforts to score at Stratford last time out and must be respected from 5lb higher, but it is AQUIFOLIA that shades preference. Neil Mulholland's charge has few miles on the clock over timber and was a creditable second over C&D last month. A 3lb rise doesn't look harsh considering there should be more to come, with compensation a real possibility today. Graham looks well handicapped in comparison to his Flat rating and can also enter calculations.
HILL STATION appreciated both the sharper track and drop back in trip when scoring at Stratford last time, and he remains in good order. However, stepping back up beyond 2m may expose him against stronger stayers. Aquifolia shaped with promise when a close second here on her latest start, and with further improvement likely if ridden more positively, she rates a danger. Jorebel had every chance when third at Uttoxeter last time but has shown enough overall to suggest he could be a touch of value in a race of this nature.

Following a frustrating run of seconds, LERMOOS LEGEND was able to break the sequence in emphatic fashion at Market Rasen before going in again over C&D latest. A further 6lb rise in the handicap could underestimate Mickey Bowen's 10-year-old, and he is taken to complete the hat-trick. Somespring Special was in contention when falling two from home at Worcester in June so she is of interest, as is the class dropping Jaramillo.
LERMOOS LEGEND remains in fine fettle, scoring readily last time and still well treated despite a 5lb rise. Effective from 2m to 2½m and handling both good and good-to-soft ground, he thrives under the care of a trainer in form and sets the standard. Somespring Special is returning from a break after falling over 2m4f at Worcester, but remains very much in the mix if taking to the fences cleanly this time. Midnight Jewel has been in good order of late, scoring by 3l at Stratford and shaping well when third on his latest outing. He prefers to dominate the race from the front, but a stiff mark may make it harder for him to repeat that winning effort here.

GALACTIQUE made a few mistakes on debut over hurdles but still shaped with plenty of promise when second over this C&D. With the yard having a strong record with ex-Flat horses in this sphere, she should build on that experience and looks the one to beat. Fascinating Lips returns to hurdles for the first time since winning over C&D in September 2022, but he has been busy on the Flat since and won't be lacking race fitness. Tsavo Park travels over from Ireland for his handicap debut and it will be interesting to see if he is supported in the market, but CAWTHORNE BANKER could be the one. Two of his three wins over hurdles have been over C&D, including last month, and an added 8lb may not stop him.
FASCINATING LIPS has returned to form on the Flat and brings proven stamina over 2m from his 2022 victory, making him an interesting contender now stepping into hurdles. His fourth at Windsor over 11f showed he retains ability, and he may have more to offer over timber as he gains experience. Cawthorne Banker built on a recent revival when scoring over this course by 2 1/4l last time and, despite a 2lb rise, remains well treated on past form. He prefers a sound surface and is likely to be competitive again if conditions suit. Fourtowns was keen and needed the run when well held at Warwick and returns from a break. He will need to improve markedly to feature, though has the scope to do so.

Brilliant Light travels over from Ireland but top-weight may anchor him here, leaving the path clear for GOLD LINK.
