SAN PEDRO was a C&D winner under similar conditions when last seen in May. Freddie Gordon negates the 3lb rise incurred for that success and if returning in a similar vein of form, he might be hard to beat. Global Famenglory has yet to taste success from nine starts over hurdles, but she boasts a consistent profile and is unlikely to be far away. Hilltown remains capable of better for all that he does have a bit to prove on quick ground.

There would be few more deserving than GUY, who has placed in eight of his 14 starts over the larger obstacles. The gelded son of Getaway was able to record a confidence-boosting success over hurdles at Ludlow when last seen, and he is expected to build on that to make a successful return. Valentino Dancer contends on the form of his Newton Abbot victory last month but he was well beaten in a tougher race at Warwick on Thursday. Fairway Freddy is back on his last winning mark and should not be underestimated, while Defan could also have a say.
Given that he goes well fresh and with his yard in terrific form, GUY is the most appealing option. He's only managed to win one of his 14 starts over fences, but his overall record in this sphere is pretty solid and and he's 7 lb lower in the weights compared to when runner-up in a Market Rasen handicap chase on his reappearance last season. Master Dancer is worth a second look on his first chase start on these shores and is second choice ahead of Fairway Freddy.

BENTLEY'S RETURN showed a fair level of ability in bumpers last season and the son of Mahler would not have to be anything special to make an immediate impact over hurdles. He is preferred to Cape Vidal, who found only an improver too strong at Plumpton in April. Courtney Silver must saddle a penalty for her recent course victory and is capable of being in the mix.
DOC MCCOY showed plenty in a trio of bumpers last season and, with the step up in trip sure to suit, he's taken to make a successful hurdling debut for a yard that has started the autumn well. Cape Vidal got his career back on track sent hurdling when runner-up at Plumpton in April and is open to improvement, with Bentley's Return another interesting contender.

RED WINDSOR rates an interesting contender after having just one handicap start over hurdles where he wasn't beaten far into third in April. The six-year-old makes his return to action and he could make a winning chase debut. I Shut That D'or makes his first start over fences after recording a victory in one of his four starts over hurdles and may prove a different proposition in this sphere. Le Patron can beat Proper Twelve home for third.
Four chasing newcomers so not the easiest race to assess but Chris Gordon's RED WINDSOR showed fairly useful and consistent form over hurdles last term so is fancied to come out on top. I Shut That d'Or could emerge as the chief threat ahead of Le Patron in a contest where the market should also prove revealing.

THIRTYFOURSTITCHES hasn't finished out of the top two on each of his last three outings, with his latest runner-up effort coming at Stratford in a class 3 event and he was raised 2lb for that display. The eight-year-old looks sure to go close once again. The main danger is Aucunrisque, who failed to fire in the Swinton at Haydock when last seen in May, but this looks like a much more suitable assignment. Fifty Ball looks the best of the rest.
MR FREEDOM is a highly likeable type who enjoyed plenty of success last season and, with the prospect of a solid gallop, he's capable of making a successful return to this sphere. Fifty Ball and Thirtyfourstitches are likely dangers, although the latter could face competition for the lead.

There is a good chance that fences will bring about the best in Abingworth and any market support would make him of serious interest. Auditoria often runs well and shouldn't be far away on the back of a summer break. Slight preference is for TOAD OF TOAD HALL, who has already won three times at this track and whilst the drop in trip is not ideal, his jumping is sound and he may outstay his rivals in first-time cheekpieces.

There should be more to come from both Sea Invasion and Court In The Act and they will give the selection plenty to think about, while any market support for Fortuna Major should be noted.
SEA INVASION cost six figures after a promising debut in points and he's joined a stable that often has similar types ready for their debut in bumpers, so he gets the nod over Faha Belle, who seems likely to improve. Court In The Act also makes some appeal.
