Things have started to click into place for HELLO SWEETY, who came down when in contention here before filling the runner-up spot at Southwell last time. A 4lb rise looks harsh but while a few of these have something to prove, this represents a solid opportunity. Alvesta has bits and pieces of form that would give her a chance, and handicap hurdle debutant Casual Encounter warrants a market check.
HELLO SWEETY may have won if she didn't kick on too soon last time and is taken to make amends off 4lb higher. She was going well in front when coming down here previously and should appreciate the return to this sharp venue. Top weight Alvesta arrives fit from the flat and she ran ok here prior to that. She's on a reasonable mark judged on her maiden form and can fight for a place with Casual Encounter who left her previous hurdle form behind on her final qualifying run.

It is difficult to oppose ZENATO, who recorded a narrow success at Stratford before bolting up at Sedgefield last month. A subsequent 7lb rise will ask sterner questions of him, but his proven ability to handle this unique course could give him the edge. Merely A Detail has been consistent since switching to hurdles and is expected to make her presence felt, along with Snapius.
MISS MAXFORT produced her best effort since her maiden win in Ireland last time and will be tough to beat if building on that. She was beaten by a pair of well handicapped rivals on her stable debut and gets to race off 1lb lower. She should come on for that run and can account for another ex Irish performer in Snapius. He's only 2lb above his last winning mark and is ideally suited by 2m on easy ground. Codetalker failed to stay 2 1/2m on his handicap debut but he's well treated on his maiden form and can also play a big part back down in trip.

Tankardstown Diva made a pleasing return to fences at Huntingdon last month and must be respected, as must Settle Down Jill, although she didn't appear to have any obvious excuses when a beaten favourite at Leicester. A chance is taken on I AM THE MOON. With cheekpieces applied ahead of her seasonal reappearance/chasing debut, she could improve for her in-form yard.
I AM THE MOON was highly tried in her short hurdles career and could have too much class for this field on her chase debut. She's well treated on her handicap form and her yard can get them ready first time after a break. She's open to plenty of improvement now chasing in the first time cheekpieces and can get the better the consistent Settle Down Jill who will also find this easier than her recent assignments. She will need to prove her effectiveness on easy ground but if doing so she can prove the main challenger ahead of Gazette Bourgeoise. That rival is just 1lb above her last winning mark which came over C&D and she's entitled to come on for her latest run.

KILBAKANTO appeared stretched by the extended 3m at Haydock earlier this month and he shaped better than his fourth-placed effort suggests. Reverting to 2m4f should see the son of Malinas in a better light and this looks a suitable opportunity for him to open his account under Rules. Although Tony Joe was unable to complete a double in a Catterick bumper last month, he rates as the biggest danger on his hurdles bow, ahead of Jonquilla.
Point winner KILBAKANTO ran well for a long way until his stamina gave way over 3m last time and is chosen to make amends dropped back in distance. That effort sets a clear standard on ratings and a repeat can see him defeat multiple flat winner High Point who arrives fit from that discipline. He stayed up to 14f in that sphere and is proven with cut in the ground. Bumper winner Tony Joe is also respected though he will need to prove he handles cut on his hurdles debut.

BOLSOVER BILL was entitled to need his belated reappearance when finishing sixth over timber at Leicester last month and this six-time chase winner may prove far more competitive reverting to the larger obstacles. Market support for Harry Derham's charge could be significant and he gets a tentative vote in a trappy contest. Frere d'Armes is now 1lb lower than he was when winning over C&D last December and must enter calculations along with Shantou Lucky.
BOLSOVER BILL needs to prove he retains all of his ability following a lay off but he is dangerously well handicapped if doing so. He's back on his last winning mark and has a good record under this jockey at around 2 1/2m on easy ground. Veteran Frere D'Armes isn't the force of old but he is well treated on his best recent hunter chase form so looks the main danger ahead of Shantou Lucky. Shadows In The Sky returned to form with a respectable second over 2m5f here in October and he looks worth a go over a further mile, but reopposing winner Enjoy D'allen still looks the better treated of the pair. That said, TO BE SURE shaped encouragingly when finishing third behind Safe Destination at Chepstow last time and this step up in trip could be the making of him. Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies' inmate cannot be dismissed, although further rain could hamper his bid.
Veteran ENJOY D'ALLEN has returned to form of late and can defy top weight here. He remains thrown in on his old Irish efforts which included a placed effort in an Irish National and he has proven himself at this venue with an autumn win. The consistent Safe Destination ran better than the figures suggest last time and could be a threat if he runs his usual race. Girl Of Gold wasn't disgraced when finishing third on her handicap hurdle bow at Leicester last time out and she's a potential improver stepping up in distance. Nonetheless, ISABEL DE CLARE's latest exploits at Ludlow look stronger and a reproduction of her recent placed efforts may prove sufficient. Pooroldmackley should appreciate a return to hurdles and is also worth a second look along with Lady Harriett.
The unexposed GIRL OF GOLD can defy top weight if her stamina holds up over this longer trip. The sharp track should help her see it out and her penultimate runner up effort has worked out well making her look on a generous mark. Arguably the best handicapped horse in the contest is multiple flat winner Doublethetrouble. He is unexposed in this discipline but does have big stamina concerns up in trip judged on his latest effort. Pooroldmackley has been progressive over fences and hurdles as his trip increases so should also be competitive.
