KING PRAWN was backed to win his debut. He showed signs of inexperience and finished third. He is likely to do a lot better this time and can score. KOOKWATER is an Erupt gelding who could be ready for this debut. POP CHART and SHOCKMAN are two Gavin Smith-trained newcomers, and either could prove good enough. Verdict

POETIC PRINCESS has been very consistent in the Western Cape and looks the right one in a weak race. SWEET CAKE has been a disappointment of late but could play a minor role. MIDWICKET makes her local debut after a change of trainer and could contest the finish. NEMOROSA has struggled of late but makes the trip from Cape Town and could earn some money. Verdict

FLIGHT ENGINEER was unreliable and did not win a race in Gauteng but on the pick of his best runs he does set the standard for this race. LOTUS ISLAND has impressed in both local starts, winning by wide margins. This is a tougher race but she can finish off a hat-trick of wins. COULDITBE is unreliable but can earn some money. HELIOTROPE is probably at her very best over a bit shorter but should fight out the finish. LADY ZULTANITE and CANFORD QUEEN have been holding their form on the Polytrack and can earn some minor money.

A very open handicap and it probably is best to put as many runners as possible in this leg of the Pick 6. ARTICUNO has been consistent for trainer Alan Greeff and would not be a surprise winner. STRANGE MAGIC has been running in better fields and deserves respect. MY AMI BEACH won over this course and distance in her penultimate start and needs to be included in all bets. SWEETIE DARLING has made the trip from the Western Cape and can surprise. BYTHELITEOFTHEMOON likes this course and distance and does have stable jockey Richard Fourie in the irons. Two very open races to end the card. MO THE MAN has terrible form with blinkers and they were tried again last time out. His form before that on the Polytrack suggested a win could come soon. PYROMANIAC has a winning chance in a race like this. PEDRO likes this course and distance and has is not out of it. SON OF ZEUS is unreliable but quite capable of winning when in the mood.
